Re: Favorite correction compound and polish duo?

M101/Optimum Polish II produced outstanding results while correcting my front bumper, earlier today.

Both are SMAT, so there is no need to "break down" the abrasives, but both products allow for long buffing cycles with just a spritz of water/QD. I used the M101 with a LC yellow flat pad and finished out hologram free and LSP-ready on my Makita, were I have chosen not to follow up with OP II on a crimson LC Hydrotech, and that is no exaggeration. The OP II took things to that "next level", so i'm glad I did.

Always thought OP II was a tremendously underrated product. I use it for wetsanding spot corrections down to 2000 grit and it performs flawlessly and quickly. In fact, i'm fairly certain it would be able to handle 1500 grit sanding marks as claimed, I just haven't had occasion to try. It has also performed wonderfully as a medium cut polish and as a fine/finishing polish.

Have also recently been experimenting with 3D's AAT (501/502) combo and have had great success, but the compound comes with a bit of a learning curve IMHO. Didn't seem to like temps below, say, 50 degrees. 502 does, indeed, finish out hologram-free on a rotary.

I like the ones above. In addition to those, I also like the following combos:

    D300 then M205.

Blackfire twins - SRC compound and finishing polish.
