Product Review: McKee's 37 Plastic Trim Restorer

McKee's 37 Plastic Trim Restorer is a high-tech polymer coating that penetrates deep into the pores of exterior plastic trim, renewing the factoy appearance while providing robust uv protection that can withstand any climate. Regular application keeps the plastic trim on your vehicle (even brand new ones!) looking as good as the day it was new. 100% guaranteed not to streak when wet: polymer coating blankets plastic trim in a water-resistant shield of protection that lasts montha, not weeks.

    Directions:
First, thoroughly clean surface using McKee's 37 Wax Remover For Plastic. Apply Plastic Trim Restorer directly onto a foam or microfiber applicator pad and work into surface. On hard smooth plastic trim it might be necessary to buff off excess product. Allow to cure for 2 hours before getting wet.

Let's start with a 50/50 of the bumper we are working on. This was just 1 coat of Plastic Trim Restorer.

Just like prepping the car before you polish is key for results, Prep is key for Restorer to do the best job on your plastic. Before I cleaned with Wax Remover For Plastic, I used N914 @ Waterless Wash ratio to remove the dirt.

Agitating with Wax Remover to remove oils/grease/old dressing.

After you remove the Wax Remover, It was time to restore the rest of the bumper, I applied a nickel sized amount of product on a applicator pad and massaged it into the bumper.

You can see the "oxidation lines" in the bumper. Let's see if the PTR (Plastic Trim Restorer) can take care of this.
    (Before)

After only applying 1 coat, There are no signs of any oxidation/fading lines this was about 15 mins after I applied and the Restorer was dry to the touch with no streaks.

    Before

    After

Another 50/50 on the other side of the bumper.

On the other side of the bumper I found more oxidation/fading lines.

After your pad is primed with product, I found that A few tiny drops after the first initial drop is all you need. After I applied a few drops to my applicator pad I massaged it into the bumper.

    The faded lines are gone!

Bumper is all done! You can notice right away that it looks restored, Not greasy, or shiny. and it is dry to the touch. It made the bumper appear to look brand new.

This Jeep has plastic trim that wraps around the entire car. You will notice a white mark on the trim.

Applied a few sprays of Wax Remover For Plastic, To remove the white mark.

    Agitation with brush.

The Wax Remover removed all the transfer from the scrape, The little residual white mark that you see is scraped plastic.

50/50 After drying you can barely notice the white scraped plastic.

another winner for McKee's 37 this is a awesome product, There are many "Trim Restorers" on the market, However there basically Tire Dressings that temporarily make it look better. Plastic Trim Restorer is a RESTORER. for sure. It is on my personal car so I will be able to see how long its going to last and how the upkeep is so stay tuned. I am very impressed with the finish that it left behind. a Nice aggressive OEM finish that is dry to the touch.

I will also say that the product is really easy to apply, A little product is needed and a feature that I kind of noticed is if you do apply it thick (I was trying to make it streak) You will notice after it dries it kind of "auto levels" and does not leave any high spots. When I read the directions more thoroughly afterwards I noticed the "100% Streak free guarantee" So I knew that I was correct that the product does dry out nice even without being careful.

If you have any questions let me know.

Remember that prep is key, Do not use detail spray with wax/sealant or car shampoo with gloss enhancers. That will all interfere with the Plastic Trim Restorer penetrating the plastic pores.

UV protection ? Don't see it mentioned.

Is it a competitor to the Wolfgang trim sealant ?

Looks great, but many products do the same thing as this one. Durability is key.

It mentions "robust UV Protection" in the blue box at the beginning of the review.

Great review. How does this compare to Solution Finish?
