Silicosis -- acute or chronic -- really is a condition that is infrequent and unique to a certain subset of individuals that develops when exposed to high concentrations of respirable silica. These are people who work in mines, work in the fracking industry, sandblasters, foundary workers and masons. These are people who absolutely need to wear PPE and have rotational exposure to this "dust" that is suspended and inhaled.

When you leave a bottle of a silica coating out, the hydrocarbons, which are volatile, leave behind the crystals and you can inhale the hydrocarbons, which can lead to dizziness, palpitations, neurological deficits and nausea/vomiting. Therefore, applying silica coatings in a well-ventilated area or with a respirator is advised, but not because of the silica.

If you check out the MSDS for CS and CQuartz, you'll notice that often the respiratory complications or exposures aren't classified, and that generally means they fall below the calculated risks or data is not definitive.

Knowing the the higher airborne concentrations of silica required to cause acute and chronic silicosis are immensely out of proportion to that during the typical coating application, I highly doubt doing a rinseless wash or QD with some silica-based lubricant in it is of any concern.

Frankly, I'd be more concerned about grinding down the paint with Gyeon Primer or CarPro Essence and getting that powder airborne than I would with any hand applied coating or spray coating.

Thanks for the explanation. I am always on the lookout for silica exposure because I am actually a mason

Opti-clean worked fantastically well for me as waterless. Used it in my garage and the perfumey smell was overwhelming. Really wish they'd fix scent, or tone it down. Except for that it could be my go-to.

Not overpowering at all. I hate stinky stuff and had no issue with Ech2O.

Ech2o has a very pleasant "fresh" scent... smells just like Eraser to me (which I also like)

Does anyone know if it leaves protection behind or is it completely void of silica? I like it wouldn't give up my Ultima waterless though.

It does, how much I don't know. If Reload has 5% SiO2, EcH2O can't have much.

    Welcome to AGO.

By paint cleaner what exactly are you referring to? What are you trying to achieve? Paint cleaners to me are a polish or cleaner wax.

Eraser is designed to remove polishing oils.

EcH2o is an excellent drying aid at 1:20. It will enhance the gloss and leave a slick finish.

My fault Guz about paint cleaner...Thank you for your help. In order to use it as waterless wash in two weeks dust in the car paint is good the dilution rate 15:1? And for medium dert the dilution rate 5:1? I do not mind to use more of Ech2o in the dilutions. I do not want to have streaks in the car paint.

Re: CarPro EcH2o Concentrated Waterless Wash - WOW! WOW! WOW!

Dilution ratios pulled straight from Carpros website.

500ml makes up to 2 Gallons of (1:15) Waterless Spray
500ml makes up to 3 1/4 Gallons of Quick Detailer (1:25)
500ml makes up to 5 1/4 Gallons of Clay Lubricant (1:40)
    500ml makes up to 26 1/2 Gallons of Rinse-less Wash (1:200)

For what you call “medium dert” and dust (2 weeks) use it at the waterless or rinseless dilution. For you call light dust use it at the waterless wash dilution. Hope this helps.
