So far, I love my Boss21. One thing I will say(and it is not totally unique to this machine) is if you have a really small car with a lot of curves, you may want to use a 5" pad. I think the long throw and the 6.5" pad is a little tight. I learned to work the machine through them but, tight curve are a little tricky!

With all these larger machines I think you need a smaller machine for those areas if you can swing the extra $$$. Rupes Mini, GG 3" etc. I pretty much always use my Mini for those tighter areas. I too bought the 5" backing plate for my GG21 for exactly what you posted above. It's nice to have that option.

I agree that the larger pads are a bit tricky to use. I immediately opted to get a 5 inch backing plate when I found out I had been selected for the G21 giveaway. So far it's working great. For curved panels it helps to bump up the speed a notch to ensure proper pad rotation. I'll have the full review up hopefully this weekend, but for now here's a little teaser.

I think you guys are right. My PC gets in the tight spots but, slow for paint correction. I think a 5" pad for the G21 and or a smaller machine for tighter areas.

Ps-this is not a knock on the G21. (It is a very powerful tool!) This is a case of fine tuning my technique and choosing the right tools or accessories to use in the right areas.

Re: Griot's Garage NEW BOSS Paint Polishing System

Just got my g21 and wow. I started with there 6" polisher, then went to the flex which i only had a couple months then i bought the rupes 21 when it first came out. I really liked the rupes but there where some things that bothered me about it. The g21 fixed all those. THe first thing i noticed was the cord. Its nice and flexable. The rupes was way to stiff. THe next was the switch. Its nice to pull it and go to full power right away and the lock is so easy to use, the rupes was not always the easiest to lock in when working on the side panels of vehicals. Also the grips and the way the g21 feels in your hand is great. I can't wait to try it out. I'm going to have to wait till sunday.
