Re: Using Solution Finish to Restore Running Boards - 2018 Chevy Silverado

Solution finish is way ahead of the times by using graphite. Its milled graphite that gives it that black color, same as graphene.

To be completely honest, I forget. Lol

I mixed it up a few years ago after reading about it here on AGO. I really want to say 2:1?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

The big difference is that the PBL (and any ceramic coating) will protect the finish and restore it to its natural color. The Solution Finish is going to turn stuff black, because it's full of black pigment.

    Tom

I think machine scrubbing is the best option when possible.

Pinnacle Black Label Ceramic Trim Restorer

I have some of this on hand, but never used it.

I'm hoping that the day I do eventually use it, that it is still usable, and hasn't expired past its use date?

Both do the same thing except the PBL Ceramic Trim Restorer has a built-in ceramic coating. So you don't need to top it with a dressing or a coating.

The Solution Finish is simply a pigment or a dye, you don't have to top it but topping it will help to lock it in. Even Chris West recommend topping it.

    Yup.

I've obtained great results using both.

The large bottle size for the Solution Finish when you have a LOT of real-estate to cover is a good value.

The results and longevity of the PBL Ceramic Trim Restorer is also a good value. Perhaps use one and the top with the other?

The big question, does the Finish Solution wash away?

My guess is anything topical will with some soap and water. What penetrates into the plastic will be a lot more stubborn to remove.

This is why the owner of Solution Finish, Chris West states that after you use Solution Finish - then apply your favorite dressing or fill-in-the-blank to seal over it.

Makes sense to me. And a good product would be anything that water-proofs the surface.
