GTechniq Tyre and Trim review by Mike Philips

GTechniq Tyre and Trim review by Mike Philips

    GTechniq Tyre and Trim

First the technical stuff, here's what the GTechniq website has to say...

T1 Tyre and Trim has been formulated to keep your tyres and trim black and spotless for longer than ever. T1 also gives you ultimate control over gloss levels offering a natural satin finish with a single coat to a high gloss with multiple coats.

T1 is based on chemical nanotechnology designed to offer previously unattainable durability, hydrophobicity (water repellency) and oleophobicity (oil repellency)

    Directions for use...

Thoroughly clean and dry tyres and trim prior to application

    • Squeeze T1 onto a foam applicator, tyre swipe or cloth

    • Spread evenly onto tyre and/or trim surfaces

    • Remove excess product with a separate cloth

    • For additional gloss, wait 10 minutes and repeat application steps

    Here's my comments...

First - When this brand new car arrived the dealership had already applied something greasy and oily onto the tires. Somewhere I have a picture of my finger after swiping the tire sidewall and removing some of the black gunk.

So before I could even test out the GTechniq Tyre and Trim I had to thoroughly scrub the tires first to get whatever was on them off of them. And this is the key thing to learn,

First - Don't use caveman tire dressings on your tires, stick with quality brands like GTechniq.

Second - Before you can use any tire dressing the tires must be surgically clean in order for the product to properly adhere and to look good.

    Here's the product in action!

So after scrubbing the tires clean and then washing and drying the car, it's time to apply the GTechniq Tyre and Trim. To do this I'm using a simple microfiber applicator pad which actually works quite well.

And here are the results... a very nice deep, dark satin finish...

I think Tom will be happy with the way his car looks on the outside and on the inside after getting a full GTechniq detail...

    Final thoughts...

If you're like me and you don't like a greasy, oily tire and trim dressing then trust in the GTechniq name and try out their T1 Tire & Trim

So this is more of a dressing than a coating, Mike? Is it dry to the touch after?

That is one beautiful car! I like the shine on the tires, not too glossy.

Thrilled to see AG finally carry it! Did mine this morning with it. A good cleaning with Mothers tire renew and did 2 coats. This finally finished my bottle of it. Wanted to note, with just a few drops per tire, the bottle will last a long time. This is a real deal product for tires. NO SLING and lasts thru several washes and rain. Loved it for tires. Here is my review when I first used it..

All the time I had it, I had the same thought. This stuff gotta rock on trim, but never tried it there. Till today. Did the rear bumper pad. Wow it looked good! Ill see how it holds up....

Glad to see AG carrying this. I bought some a while back after reading a review that Zach wrote. The finish is awesome Satin goodness. Not quite as durable as a coating, but easily outlasts most tire dressings.

Nice Mike. What did you use to get the tires surgically clean?
