Jay Leno Garage Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Review by Mike Phillips

Jay Leno Garage Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Review by Mike Phillips

I always find it hard to make interior products fun and exciting. My experience in this industry I know guys get excited about,

New tools - In other words new polishers for polishing paint.

New compounds and polishes - You know, the products we use do turn a diamond in the rough into a glistening gemstone.

New LSPs - The products we use to seal up all our hard work.

Notice anything about this group of products? They are all paint focused. And yep... most of us, (me included), get excited about buffing out paint because that's where the fun is at. Working on interiors? No much excitement and passion for cleaning carpets and "yes" there's not much excitement and passion for cleaning and conditioning leather.

    Am I right?

Yeah... I know there are a handful of you guys out there and even a few ladies that like and prefer to do car interior detailing. Hey this niche is all yours.

The above all said, one of my jobs here at Autogeek is to test out new products and right reviews and how-to articles and that leads us to the leather seats in the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C300.

    2016 Mercedes-Benz C300

Now upscale cars like this with leather interiors command a premium price and part of the perceived value is the luxurious leather interior. What makes a leather interior nice is how it looks and how it feels. If you have a car with a leather interior and especially if it's a brand new or newer car, then you need to regularly maintain it to preserve how it looks and preserve how it feels.

And cleaning and protecting leather is simple, fast and easy. 100% completely opposite of compounding, polishing and waxing the outside of a car. So why guys like doing paint correction more than doing car interior detailing is beyond me?.

    Continued.....

Here's my test seats with both smooth surface and perforated leather styles of panels.

These seats have normal wear-n-tear and a few stains here and there...

Step 1: Spray the Jay Leno Garage Leather Cleaner onto a clean, folded microfiber towel.

Step 2: Mist a little cleaner onto the surface to be cleaned.

Step 3: Use the microfiber towel to spread the cleaner over the surface and gently work it to agitate, loosen and remove any body oils, dirt, stains and grime.

Here you can see the dirt build off peeled off just the face of the seat...

Step 4: Apply the Jay Leno Leather Conditioner

    Tech Tip
When working on perforated leather, use your finger to press the leather conditioner into the foam applicator. When you press the foam against the leather the foam will release the conditioner and you won't fill the holes up with product.

Work the leather conditioner over the surface using the applicator

Step 5: Use a clean, dry microfiber towel to wipe off any excess to leave a cleaned, conditioned and protected surface.

Repeat these steps to the rest of the seats.

Notice how after applying conditioner the holes are still open and able to allow air to flow through them.

    Comments...

The Jay Leno Garage leather cleaner and conditioner are both quality products you can trust to take care of your car's leather interior. Leather cleaning and conditioning isn't hard to do and should be done on a regular schedule to keep your leather interior looking and feelng new. The real secret is to find something you like and then use these product on a regular basis. If you do, you're leather will always look good and feel good and you'll not only preserve the leather but you'll preserve the resale or trade-in value of the vehicle.

    For your senses
Also - the leather cleaner has a fresh pleasant scent and the leather conditioner smells like new leather but it's not over powering.

Great write up. The packaging is nice for the Leno line. Good tip on the conditioner with the foam applicator.

It's a simple tip but it keeps the perforations from being clogged up with product.

For anyone reading this into the future if you didn't use this tip and all the perforated holes in your leather seats are filled with some type of leather lotion, >quick< while the lotion is still wet take and vacuum the seats. A good vacuum should extract the excess.
