Do water spots continue to cause damage?
This weekend unknowingly parked where the car got sprayed with a sprinkler and then sat in the sun. Despite being coated with sealant and wax, the car got absolutely covered in water spots, which I don't understand. I washed the car as soon as I could but the damage was done. The spots aren't terrible, but you can definitely see them. I'm sure a full polishing will be necessary.
My question is, do the water spots have to be polished off asap, or can it wait? Since the car has been washed, will there be any further damage and etching or can I wait some time to polish the car?

I think the damage is done during the initial drying of the water beads. I don't see the need to rush to polish, whatever damage there is going to be has already occurred.
You've already washed the car... I think you're safe at this point.
