Flex 3401 intermittently working
I've had my Flex 3401 for about 4 years and it has been flawless until today. It would spin when laid flat on it's back but when I pick it up to put a pad on the paint either vertically or horizontally, it shuts off. Occasionally, I could shake it and get it to turn on, but then it would stop.
I suspect it either the trigger or electronic module that plug into teh trigger. I took the handle apart and did not see anything obvious other than some dirt and dust from over the years.
Has anyone had this issue? I don't want to just randomly start replacing parts.
Thanks

Sounds like brushes to me
Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
I have the same issue with mine that I purchased not too long ago. I've only used it twice. I need to contact AG about it.
Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
Contact Powerhouse Distribution. Perhaps send it in for a rebuild.

Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
Thank you guys for the advice. I ordered new brushes and a new trigger because it's relatively cheap compared to sending it in or buying a new one. I'll keep everyone updated.

Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
I wanted to provide follow up if anyone is interested. After some research and analysing the problem, I began to suspect the cord. I found a 10 foot 14 gage replacement electrical cord at a hardware store. The original cord appeared to be a 16 gage. I replaced with the new cord (it will fit and is slightly larger).
The buffer works like a charm again. I believe that the copper may have become work hardened from a lot of use and cracked inside the insulation. Replacing the cord only took a few minutes.
I have received the replacement brushes and trigger just in case. I will keep them for the future instead of replacing them now.

^ glad to hear everything has worked out okay... :)
Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
Good to hear Ted. Thanks for the update.
Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
Thank you for the update. I will keep this in mind in the future in case something happens to my Flex in the future. At least you have new brushes and a trigger.
Re: Flex 3401 intermittently working
Had the same thing happen to me on Friday. Thought brushes however they were perfect, was thinking switch however I decided to do a little research and found this thread. Checked the cord and it seemed a little damaged where it meets the polisher, cut off 8 inches and reconnected it, runs perfectly! Love this site!
