I didn't realize that was 471+, I thought it was more like 218. No wonder it's so expensive!
What's the scoop on the 471+? Is that microns of thickness?
It's also available in 1/2" and 3/4" widths. The 3/4" is really nice to have around, especially for taping around sunroofs!
That's just the 3M part number, I have some fine-line 3M masking tape and I figured it was the same as this tape that AG is selling, but apparently it's not. The 471+ is a stretchy vinyl tape that is low-residue (compared to say, electrical tape).

On youtube is a video posted by 3M showcasing the marine refinishing system, and in that video they show wide (1 1/2" - 2") yellow vynil tape and they call it number 471. I haven't been able to locate any of that particular tape locally at any of our paint supply houses. Everyone just looks at me with a puzzled look on their face. All they are aware of is plain ol' yellow masking type by 3M, not the yellow vynil that I'm refering to. Have you seen any of this yellow vynil, number 471, tape? Just wondering. I can see it coming in real handy for certain types of work, being easier to work around curves and such, not to mention not tearing apart upon removal.
I'm not quite sure what MSC is, Setec.
The stuff I currently have (according to the package it came in) is the 233 series (3m part number 06343). It's also blue and somewhat stretchy but the package calls it a masking tape. Funny thing is, the printing on the roll form that the tape is wrapped around says 471+ on it. Not sure what if anything is different (other than about 50% lower price).
