Checking out different ways to get the job done. Tried CanCoat
I'm very new to detailing.
As I'm learning, I'm trying different products. I'd heard good things about CanCoat on an HD forum and have been looking at what folks have to say about it online. About a week ago, I used a polisher for the first time and as an LSP, I used wax sealant. Looked great when it was done. Eventually my poor pickup is going to be a very polished old beater. I keep it around as a spare, i don't actually drive it very often. :) Anyhow, this time around, I decided to use CanCoat on the tail gate of my truck.
This is what I did.
Wash>Gyeon Iron>Clay>Polish>Finishing Glaze>Gyeon Prep> Gyeon CanCoat
Deceivingly easy to do. All of the time, research, videos, prep....and the application was over in about maybe 2 minutes.
It is sticky, but it buffs out easily when you apply it properly. I was super careful to cup the application MF they provide for applying the product. As you apply the wet product to the surface, you can feel a subtle difference in how slick the surface feels as you buff it off. I didn't need to polish it, just lightly buff the surface and it left a super slippery glass like finish. Amazing.
I plan on trying some other options, but I can't imagine an easier product to apply with such an amazing result. In the rain compared to other parts of the car, including the panel that got the wax sealant, water beaded up like it typically does. The tail gate with the CanCoat had little ribbons of water. As soon as the rain hit it, it would start sliding down and ribboning instead of beading. I've never seen water repelled from a surface like this. Again, I'm pretty new to the game, but I was really impressed with how easy it was to get a great outcome with this LSP.

Never heard of someone using a glaze before coating. Maybe that’sxwhy it was sticky? Hopefully Prep removed all the bad stuff

Nope. The product isn't actually a glaze. It's a fine finishing polish.
CanCoat is an amazing product and probably has the best water behavior of any coating I've used.

Gosh, in July of this year I'll have been hear at Autogeek for 12 years.
And for 12 years I've been investing the companies time to clear up confusion caused by the mis-naming of the Wolfgang product.
Like Nate stated, Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is NOT a glaze, it's a fine cut polish.
Unless a person is working on FRESH paint - for the most part - NO ONE needs a true glaze.

Nope. You're process is spot-on.
The GYEON Prep removed the oils left on the surface from the Wolfgang POLISH. :laughing:
