Griot's GR3 Rotary; Anyone Have One? - Need a Favor
I'm looking for a few dimensions, as shown in the attached images, of the GR3 that I need to finish building the wall rack to store my polishers. I have a GR3 ordered but won't get it until mid to late Feb. due to back-order status. I'd like to finish the rack before then and these dimensions would sure help. Anyone?
And thanks in advance.

If interested, you can see the wall rack (nearly complete) here - Post #1507... What did you do today non-detailing related? - Page 151 (autogeekonline.net)

Apologies John for being so late to this, no good excuse.
I took measurements using a basic wood school type ruler and eyeing each measurement up. I would say my measurements are as accurate as possible. If you want to give yourself and the tool a little wiggle room, maybe add 1/8" inch.
Here you go,

I'm going to go to work right now using these measurements.
If I could bother you with one more request... Relative to the 4 1/2 measurement... I really need that dimension without the extension installed.
The image I provided is a bit misleading as it shows the extension installed. I tried to clarify the measurement I need with the note to measure without the extension installed but I can certainly see how that communication got lost.
For the sake of clarity here's another view that more clearly shows the measurement I need.

I thought you wanted from center of spindle to the second rubber tab on the bottom of the tool. I wasn't looking at your diagram correctly. The 4 1/2" wasn't the extension measurement.

With the Griot's included backing plate attached to the G3 - I measure 5/8"
:)

Be with brain not working for some reason thought you wanted this dimension...

Perfect! That's exactly what I needed.
I'll update with a picture of the bracket once I incorporate the changes that I'm using these measurements for.

Cool. :dblthumb2:
And remember,
Measure twice and cut once.
Or like my wife tells me when I'm doing projects like this,
If it ain't broke - fix it until it is.

Here's the pic with the features shown and the corresponding dimensions I needed to locate them.
The 1/4 x 1 1/4 is the recess for the spindle lock button clearance.
The 1 1/2 & 5/8 dimensions are for the retainer that keeps the polisher from sliding out of the bracket.

And here's some pics of everything complete.
Hopefully with your measurements, the empty space for the GR3 is going to fit like a glove. If not I may have to do some minor mods when the time comes. It should be ok but there's nothing like having the real thing in your hand when building a custom fit piece.
Thanks again for providing the measurements... I couldn't finish without them and I was going crazy being so close, yet unable, to finish.

Re: Griot's GR3 Rotary; Anyone Have One? - Need a Favor
Got the GR3 on Friday so here is a pic with all of my polishers stored on the wall rack.
I did have to make two minor mods to the GR3 bracket but I kind of expected that might be the case. I had to move the retainer a little over 1/8". The 1 1/2" dimension actually needed to be 1 5/8" - 1 11/16". No big deal - I just opened up the slot and made a shim/spacer to take up the slack and relocate the retainer. Then I had to add the same amount to the back of the bracket to provide clearance between the backboard and the backing plate of the GR3.
Now I'm going out to the garage to play with the new polishers and some Meg's D166 on one of my bikes.
