My neighbor has asked me to detail his new vehicle. After figuring out a plan and products, he gets the wheels powder coated. The brake calipers had something done at the same time, but doesn't know if they were painted or powder coated as well.
Anything I should be careful of on a fresh powder coat surface? I was only going to clean them and hit them with a sealant, but may hold off if they need to cure longer.

The one thing I always heard is that your not supposed to use a wheel cleaner with iron remover in it on powder coated rims. I'll also say same holds true on powder coated calipers because on my old Abarth the finish on the rear calipers was flaking off towards the end but then again, I used alot of DUB wheel cleaner and the like over the years, that was then and Brake Buster is now[emoji362][emoji106]

Thanks for the tips. I hadn't thought about avoiding iron removing wheel cleaners. Fortunately I don't use those, so I'm good there.
Any thoughts on how long the surfaces should be left alone? Depending on who you talk to freshly painted surfaces shouldn't be waxed/sealed/coated for anywhere from 30~90 days. Does the same logic apply to powder coating? I know basically how powder coating works, but never dealt with it myself,nor know anything about how long they may/may not need to set up after application.
I don’t think powder coating is the same as paint in that regards because the finish is baked on. I think you’re good washing it and sealing as planned. Obviously I’m not sure so wait for wiser advice.
