2016 Twin Turbo Duramax on a 12" Cognito Lift
It turned out to be the perfect weekend to detail inside of a shop.
Dekalb County Lifts contacted me about working on their shop truck. ( I detailed a truck for a guy at work who had his 12" lift done here )
Twin Turbo diesel complete with a 12" lift. Maybe I should invest in a set of stilts.....
Anyways, I took alot of pictures but won't post them all... White it difficult to capture the look ( especially with typical shop lighting and a cellphone camera )
Process:
Clean wheels and tires using Auto Fanatics professional wheel cleaning foam via iK Foam 9 sprayer.
"Rinselss" wash using a bucket of water with MF towels, Wash solution was applied via iK Foam 1.5 ( Chemical Guys Clean Slate ).
Clay via CG Fine clay mitt + Nano skin glide.
Polishing was an experience.... I think the paint on the truck is relatively "hard" because a fine polish with a polishing pad did not do much for the few minor defects. Remember this truck has around 700 miles on it. It still smells new inside.
I wound up using Griot's Garage Fast correcting cream via Rupes LHR 15 Mark II and a Yellow Rupes polishing pad.
Porter cable was used for smaller areas using a 4" Rupes yellow pad.
Panel wipe - CarPro Eraser
Glass - Treated with McKee's Glas coating
Trim - Treated with CarPro DLux trim coating
Paint - Coated with CarPro Cquartz UK 3.0 ( followed by Reload the next day )
Wheels - Coated with GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour
Tires - Dressed with Meg's Hyper Dressing 3:1
The Vinly graphics and badges were removed for the Ceramic coating ( done by the owner )
This is how the truck sat when I arrived:

Great job, lots of square footage to detail on that monster.

Very nice. I’ll take a higher vehicle over a lowered vehicle any day though.

I'm not a truck guy, but what are those twin stacks coming up in the bed--the exhaust? If so, why? To get it clear of getting crimped under the vehicle when offroading?

That truck probably never see “off-road”. A lot of guys who put high dollars in their truck will do. I think it’s cuz it’s like a semi truck? Mainly diesel trucks. Does sound narly....
