Replacing backing plate on Rotary
I have a question for rotary users.
I have a Dewalt Rotary an it comes with a backing plate to use 8 inch pads. I pretty much neveer use it but this year I plan to change that.
All my pads are 5.5 inches, so I would like to change the backing plate on the Rotary to use my pads. Not sure how to go about it.
First, do 5 inch plates exist for Rotaries?
Second, is it a good idea to do it?
Third, where can I find replacement plates? Do Autogeek sell them or do I have to go to Dewalt or other companies?
Re: Replacing backing plate on Rotary
I have backing plates from 1” through to 7” for my Rotary’s. My most common used are 5”. You may use any plate, we use M14 but the US uses 5/8 I think.
Re: Replacing backing plate on Rotary
The Buff and Shine backing plates work great on my Dewalt and they're offered on the store at a good price too:

I've got both 5" (normal and soft foam) plates, the 3" ones as well as the plate extension fitting. No issues at all!

Here’s one to consider. It’s threaded for the 5/8” x 11 that the DeWalt uses.
