2015 Subaru STI Wing in need of protection

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a 2015 STI wing and trunk assembly and need some guidance on protection. I can bring this to the NASIOC forums, but I think you guys may have the better expertise here. Any guidance on getting the rough areas of my wing in "good" enough shape?

I was thinking of using the Subaru Genuine Crystal White Pearl touch up pen on the corners of the trunk, but the really tough spot would be the contact points between the trunk and the support rods where rust has set in. Someone suggested wet sanding the rust with probably 1000 grit, but then I'm at a lost for which spray paint to use to match the white underneath. I'm not trying to go for a complete restoration, but a good enough job to protect any exposed metal from rusting further and damaging the quality of the trunk.
