My brother just got me the cobra one from costco. Have not had much time to really play around with it. I will this week as I just hooked it up.
Forgot to mention that it acts a radar detector as well when using the cobra app.
I've been looking at the Blackvue 2ch. Good reviews.
https://dashcamtalk.com/ is the place to check out.
I've been using the street guardian panorama g for a few years. I have used footage from it twice in court to prove the cops blatantly lied (it records gps coordinates date/time and speed). But mostly I have it for 'just in-case' for accidents/damage. In reality it has found it's use mostly for entertainment when my passengers forgot it's there and they go off on an idiot driver around us.
Also interested what dash cam would be a good one to get. That is not crazy expensive.

Its only a 100 dollars. Set it and forget it bro. Great value.
Yup, It was when I had an STi, 100% profiled because of the car. Both times found not at fault with help of the video. One time a cop cited me for doing 95 on an off ramp, video clearly showed me doing ~35. Another time an unmarked cop cited me doing 75 in a 55 passing him, video showed me doing 60 (yes technically speeding but still got it thrown out).
I'm going to buy one soon - they turn people honest really quickly. I'm probably going with the A119. Nice and discreet and has some good features for about 100 bucks.
Few months ago I had a big moving truck back into me at a stoplight because he was out in the intersection and didn't see me. I couldn't react fast enough so I honked right as he put a big gash in my bumper. Nobody was hurt and it was going to be under 500 in damage - I spoke with the business owner on the phone and he asked to do things out of pocket and I got all his info; I had somewhere I absolutely had to be so I didn't call the police(my fault, whatever)
Fast forward to two months later he's dragging his feet about paying me for the repairs(they were around $400) and he says "You know, I think you made all of this up. My guys would never do this. I'm not paying." I told him not to even start down that road because I had video footage. He immediately met me somewhere and paid me in cash. I'm lucky he didn't call my bluff but now I have to have one because I won't get that lucky twice. It's just kind of terrible we have to resort to this kind of covering of our butts because people don't want to pony up when they make a mistake.
Matt@flyingchipmunk - that's unbelievable that you had two bogus tickets. Glad you were able to get out of them.
Using one for years but it is battery powered one. Mostly was using to analyze my and other drivers behavior. Recently someone rammed into me very hard on a parking lot while my car was parked (first accident in 16 years and 2 yr old car) but party took the guilt 100% and dash cam vid just served as an evidence jik.
Sounds like its maybe time for car makers to start making these dash cams an option when buying a car. Something that's built in so no wires and mounting hardware.
Two bogus traffic stops is not unbelievable to me. I get stopped for BS all the time! When they see I am a 50 yr old white guy, in a nice car, it's all good! I bet if I was a young guy or minority, things would be different.

Currently using a Blackvue dr550gw-2ch in 2 of my vehicles, comes with 1 front camera and a rear camera. On the Super Bee, it has been in use for about 2 years and still running great. On the SUV, its been running for a year and going great. I have it hardwired to the car so everything is nicely tucked in and clean install. This also records when the car is in park and I am away from the vehicle.
Also using a BlackVue here, the DR650GW-2CH. Get a dashcam that utilizes a capacitor instead of a battery to retain its internal memory.
Batteries don't seems to last long in an enclosed vehicle during the summer heat. Temps can get up to 110-120 degrees up near the windshield.
I just ordered the Thinkware F770. Great reviews, everywhere. Got it for front and back views, with hardwire kit. I liked the stealth size, and wifi option with the phone. Should be here by Friday.........
Got a blackvue 650 2CH HD... with the power manager hard wired.. (so it records after stopping for a period but can't flat the battery).
It was exe but it has been perfect for over a year front and rear, recorded few incidents to date to insurance or the police..
For the missus I got her a mini 806.. also excellent.. just straight hard wired to an IGN on fuse.. this has lso not missed a beat..
Both of these I have mounted right at the top of the screen using polycarb angle shims to ensure the correct orientation (due to curvature in the glass the further off center you mount the more you have to correct the camera to be forward and square.. )
How is the picture quality when using with a laminated windshield?
I am using Lukas for about a year now with external battery pack. No accident so far, but I do check the video every week make sure it's working ok. Personally I prefer one with screen so that I can easily check it. I know some of the has WIFI option rather than lcd, or maybe both, but I got lcd without wifi. It does have a good parking mode, either motion sensor record with preburffer or timelapes.
Since I set external battery between dash cam and car fuse, whenever I turn off the engine, it starts using external battery power rather than car battery for parking mode.
The reason I spend a lot money is because I had hit and run at mall parking lots, it's small local shopping mall, no cctv. I spent $800 to fix my car.
Will do. It'll be a couple weeks before I get back to TX. FYI, www.carcamcentral.com does great reviews on dash cams...he has a 15-minute review on his website worth checking out.
