Need help with Pinnacle black diamond surface coating
Hi,
My husband applied the Pinnacle black diamond surface coating (after doing all the correct prep work etc.) on his Challenger Hellcat. Seems he put too much on some parts and there are noticeable streaks. It's dried on there now.
Any ideas how to correct the streaks once the product has dried without having to remove all the coating and start over?
Thanks.

No, you pretty much have to repolish and reapply. Tell your husband to use a finishing polish and go over it again quickly then reapply panel by panel.
Re: Need help with Pinnacle black diamond surface coating
Hi and welcome to AGO! Those streaks you see are whats called "High Spots". Essentially as you stated too much product that flashed to quickly before you could wipe off the excess.
I have got high-spots out by actually applying a small amount of quick detailer spray such as Pinnacle Crystal Mist and wiping the area with a soft MF towel. But that is usually within minutes of the application.
then, I'll go back over the area again to make sure I have coverage. My business partner (Wife / a.k.a. Interior Gal) normally follows behind me doing close inspections during a coating. She's my second set of eyes to clear up such issues, as they do happen.
But as Wills states above, the only real way is to repolish the panel and start over. I would suggest the entire panel not just the spot.
Have fun with your new Hell Cat!!!!

I found some high spots a WEEK after applying PBL surface. They came right off using the PBL detail spray. Don't need to RE polish, hopefully.

That will work as well, if they purchased the Detail Spray, or Booster Spray.

It can be hit or miss with coatings, sometimes the coating high spots can be be removed with detailing spray.

thanks so much.
Looks like he has the detailing spray. He will try that and if that doesn't work, then he will have to reapply. :)

My spots were way down low and when I saw my first thought was %$#^ I'm gonna have to %^&*(#% repolish. PLEASE let this come off with a QD rub... LOL
Re: Need help with Pinnacle black diamond surface coating
I'm going to apply some Pinnacle Black Label sealant to one of my vehicles soon. Can someone comment about how critical the choice of applicator will be to getting a good finish? Will a regular foam wax applicator work?

Re: Need help with Pinnacle black diamond surface coating
If you are doing the "Sealant" you should be fine.
It would probably also be fine too if you meant the "Surface Coating" product that is being discussed here.
The Lake Country Coating Applicator is what is recommended on the product page for the Surface Coating.
