Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating

What is it?
Spray-on SiO2 Ceramic Coating.
What does it do?
Seals the surface of paint, plastic and glass using nano sized particles of silicon dioxide.
When do I use it?
After first washing and drying your car and then doing any other normal steps you would do to prep the paint to be sealed with a conventional wax or synthetic paint sealant like claying and paint correction. If you want to skip the steps of claying and paint correction you can do so and simply use the product after first washing and drying the car.
Why should I use it?
This spray-on ceramic paint coating will do the following for paint, glass and plastic,
Extreme gloss - So much gloss that the word I use to describe the appearance is glassy. The glassy look a term I use to describe paint that is even more glossy than the appearance you can get with a wax or paint sealant.
Extreme durability - Correctly applied, coatings simply don't wear off like car waxes and synthetic paint sealants. Of course, it is important to still wash a coated car carefully with clean wash mitts and a quality car wash shampoo.
Better protection - Because the coating forms a semi-permanent bond to the paint it lasts longer and because it lasts longer it's better able to protect longer simply by remaining on the surface.
Faster washing - Ceramic coatings create a hydrophobic or water-fearing surface - water naturally wants to get away from a ceramic coated surface thus washing is faster as dirt is released from the surface easier and faster..
Faster drying - The hydrophobic surface creates so much surface tension that water wants to get off the car - this means it will be a lot easier to either blow off with a car dryer or wipe off with any type of drying chamois.
Self-cleaning effect - Because of the hydrophobic surface, when it rains the water will run off faster and easier and take any accumulated dirt with it.
From the manufacturer
Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
The power of ceramic coating in the convenience of a spray!
Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating is an authentic ceramic-based paint coating, but in the ease of a spray bottle. Formulated to provide a layer of protection on its own, or as an enhanced booster of existing protection, Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating provides an easy application process. Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating is designed using true ceramic ingredients and delivers a hard, glossy finish that is hydrophobic. Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating protection will last you up to one year and can be used on exterior surfaces such as,
- Paint
- Glass
- Clear coated wheels
- Headlights and tailights
Everyone is always excited for the after glow of a ceramic coating, the perfect ‘after’ shot. However, everyone isn’t necessarily excited about the process it takes to get there. Ceramic coatings typically take time and delicacy, and sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. But with Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating, you get the power of a ceramic coating in the simplicity of a spray bottle.
A ceramic coating chemically bonds with the car’s paint and creates a new layer of protection. Because it forms a semi-permanent bond with the paint, it means it does not wash away easily. Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating is chemically formulated with true ceramic ingredients, protecting your surfaces for up to one year and is safe to use on nearly all exterior surfaces. Surfaces including paint, glass, clear coated wheel and headlight.
Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating provides you with a hard and glossy finish. This enhanced gloss is evident with the advanced reflective properties of the paint, as well as, adding depth and clarity. Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating also makes the surface hydrophobic, allowing water to bead up on the surface and roll away, preventing water spots. This product can be used as a standalone product or it can be used to boost existing coatings.
What’s truly great about Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating is that it saves you time. Instead of going through the whole process of having to delicately use a suede towel around a foam applicator and carefully make your way around the entire vehicle, you can instead just easily spray Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating directly onto the painted surface or onto an applicator.
Once the surface is sprayed, spread out with a microfiber towel and then wait until flashing (rainbow appearance) occurs. Once it occurs, wipe away excess product. Talk about a time saver!
DIRECTIONS
- Wash vehicle to remove large pieces of dust and debris and do proper prep steps when necessary.
- Prep the surface to be coated with Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep for proper adhesion of coating.
- Spray Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating directly onto the painted surface, being mindful of overspray, or onto a microfiber applicator.
- Spread the product using an applicator or microfiber towel.
- Wait until flashing (rainbow appearance) is completed and then wipe off excess product.
- Continue around entirety of vehicle.
Real-world testing...
Yancy had already washed his new Dodge Charger so I was able to skip the washing step. So next up, I simply followed the directions and coated his car using the new Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating.

Prepping the paint for proper bonding of the coating
First up was to wipe the paint down using the Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep. This is a panel wipe by any other name and smells like Bubble Gum, so it's a pleasure to use. It also wipes on and off really easy so wiping down your entire car can be done in about 20 minutes or less. This is key to the performance of the coating as the coating needs a clean surface in order form a proper bond.
Mist the Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep onto a panel or a section of a panel.

Spread over the section using a clean, dry microfiber towel.

The Wolfgang Perfect Finish Paint Prep wipes off easy leaving a perfectly clean finish that's perfect for application of the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating.

Mike's Comment - New Cars
If you buy a brand new car, assuming the paint has survived unscathed during its time on the dealership parking lot, NOW would be the best time to use this product. Simply wash and dry the car, inspect of above surface bonded contaminants using the Baggie Test and if needed, use some detailing clay to remove the contaminants. Then prep the paint with the Wolfgang Uber Perfekt Paint Prep and then install the coating.
The best time to coat a car is when it's BRAND NEW. And with this simple to use spray-on product, you can do-it-yourself and safe hundreds, even thousands of dollars. Afterwards, just use common sense and WASH AND DRY YOUR CAR CAREFULLY - using new clean wash mitts and drying towels. Don't put it off, when car is brand new - it's really the best time to use a ceramic paint coating.
If you wait and put it off, normal wear-n-tear will show up in the appearance of swirls, water spots and scratches and these will require machine buffing to correct. So nip it in the bud and if you're buying a new car, truck or suv, coat it ASAP.
Installing the coating
After wiping all the paint, glass and plastic down, next up it's time to apply or to use the correct lingo used in the ceramic coating world, it's time to INSTALL the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating. This is where there's a HUGE difference in the TIME FACTOR compared to most other coatings. Instead of using a small foam block with a microfiber suede patch wrapped around it, you use it like a spray-on wax. That is you mist some onto the panel to be treated, spread with one side of a microfiber towel and then flip to the dry side of the towel and spread the product out even more as it flashes to leave a uniform layer. That's it. Done. Move onto the next section or the next panel. It's super easy and you can FEEL the surface become super slick and slippery after wipe-off. This was really apparent on the glass on Yancy's car.

Notice how the spray nozzle does a really good job of atomizing the liquid. This enables you to cover a large area with just a mist or two...
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...oating_08c.JPG
Next spread the product over the surface so that the entire area is covered with a film of the coating....
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_09.JPG
Then flip to a fresh, dry side for the final buff. Be sure to remove any high spots of coating at this point.
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_10.JPG
Use the same above application process for paint and plastic surfaces....

Mist a little Uber Ceramic Paint Coating onto a section of paint....
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_12.JPG
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_13.JPG
For your first wipe, spread the product out to create a thin layer over the section you're coating....
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_14.JPG
FLASHING
Here's what the coating looks like under good lighting conditions - you can see the colors of the rainbow in the film of coating on the paint as it's flashing off or evaporating..
(I couldn't capture this on the glass),
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_15.JPG
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_16.JPG
Then quickly flip your towel to a clean, dry side and give this area a final buff. The first time you wipe a section you're spreading the product out, then the second time you wipe this section you're doing both, your spreading out and removing any excess. You want to do this quickly or the coating will dry and become difficult to remove. So divide larger panels like the hood, roof, trunk lid and even doors and fenders into smaller sections.
http://www.autogeekonline.net/galler...Coating_17.JPG
Repeat this same process to any plastic surface like your headlights and tailights...

Use the Uber Perfect Finish Paint Prep first....

In about 45 minutes, give or take a few minutes depending upon the size of the car, you can prep the paint and then coat it and get results like these!

Review
I really like this product. It makes the paint feel super slick and slippery and that's how I like car paint to feel. Most coatings make the paint feel rubbery. If you've used a few brands of ceramic coatings you know what I'm talking about. The rubbery feel means after all is said and done, if you go to wipe your car's paint with any microfiber towel for any process, like drying the car, or applying a booster, or using a waterless wash, the towel just seems to >stick< to the paint. Drives me up the wall. Not this coating, it leaves any surface NOTICEABLY slick feeling. I showed this to Yancy on the windshield of his car. When wiping the Wolfgang Uber Perfekt Paint Prep over the glass the towel just stuck to the glass. AFTER treating with the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating - now the glass is smooth and slippery feeling. It was a dramatic change that took place on the surface of the glass but also the paint and plastic on his car.
Best of all, if your car doesn't need any paint correction, OR even if it does need paint correction, if you don't have the time or inclination do the machine polishing steps, just skip them and go right to the coating. You'll get the glassy, candy coating look without all the prep work. And if your car does have swirl and scratches, maybe this doesn't bother you as much as the OCD car owner? Or maybe your car is white or silver and it's harder to see the swirls and scratches.
The fast application time for this spray-on coating simply cannot be beat. If you want your car's paint protected with a long-lasting ceramic coating but don't have the time for hours of machine buffing, definitely give the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating a test drive. You're going to love this product. AND just as good, you can also use this as a maintenance product on itself or any coated car. Just mist and wipe and done.

Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
I'd recommend getting at least a 6-pack of microfiber towels. You'll need 3-4 to wipe the car down with the Wolfgang Perfekt Paint Prep. I used one towel to spread out the coating and give the paint a final buff to remove any high spots. Both product have a fast flash time so your towels don't get soggy wet and thus you have more working time with them.

Thanks for the review Mike. Just curious what the cure time is on this product?

Thanks for the review! Looks like a very nice product! Looks like it goes a long way too.

Great review as usual! I hope you get a commission, lol!
How would you compare this to the Black Label Surface Coating? Which do you prefer? Thanks!

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Any claims on longevity from the chemists/creators? Most coatings at least give a best case scenario.
Also, are towels OK to use afterwards without immediate soak and clean? Or do they get crystallized?
Thanks!!!

Less than a minute before you want to start giving the coated section a wipe with a clean, soft microfiber towel. If you wait too long it will cure onto the paint.

In the past I've been a huge fan and user of the PBL Paint Coating for my own rides and customer's cars. I hate to take a sale away from another brand but moving forward I'm using this new coating in the Wolfgang line.

Two very different products. I love the PBL Surface Coating. I have not found a product that is easier to use that also leaves the paint as slick and slippery as the PBL Surface Coating. I also like to use it as a topper and a booster. It's totally worth the price. And for any regular readers of this forum, anytime there's a 25% or 30% off sale - I have a thread I try to remember to bump to let people know - now is the time to get in and get a bottle. Once you use it - you will love it. It's also great for show car final prep.
This new Wolfgang spray-on coating is the real deal. It's not to be confused with a "sealant", it's SiO2 all the way. And like I said in the video - it's super fast and easy to use.
If I were to use the two products - I would seal the paint using the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Paint Coating and then use the PBL Surface Coating as a booster, for example after washing and drying the car down the road.

One year. But as anyone that has read my article below - how long ANYTHING lasts all depends on how you TOUCH the car.
How long will a ceramic coating last on my car?

I always wash my spreading and wipe-off towels immediately after the project and to date - I have not felt a brittle feeling to the towel.
Thanks for the questions guys - this is truly a nice product and a great way to get into ceramic protection on your car. I'm not a big fan of the way some people coat over cars that have not had any paint correction performed BUT - if a person is mostly interested in paint protection - not all the time and work it requires to buff out a car - then this is the product they are looking for.
- Wash and dry
- Clay if needed
- Prep paint
- Apply coating
The above is as simple as you can get for a ceramic process.
:)

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Hi Mike,
I currently wash, Nanoskin, apply Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant, then top with a layer of Fuzion last, twice a year. In between the semi-annual cleanings, I wash and follow with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant.
I use Wolfgang SiO2 Waterless Wash as a quick detailer between washings.
This system produces a great look on our Alpine White BMW.
How would you see Uber Ceramic Spray Coating fitting into my current regimen?
Thanks!

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Very intriguing!
Yancy drives a Hemi? Yeah, I knew he was cool............

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Looks really good!
This maintained with WG Uber SiO2 coating wash used as a maintenance Wash can basically have an infinite life span. Well until claying/polishing is required

To be honest, you would want to machine polish your car with something like the Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, (amazing abrasive technology), and then chemically strip the paint and then apply the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating.
Then - maintain with the Wolfgang Si02 Waterless wash.
:)

Completely different technology. SONAX PNS is great by the way but it's not an Si02 product.
One thing I always tell people out SONAX PNS is that the wipe-off is a tick sticky, just the nature of the product. Thus only apply thin coats, wipe-off after application and only apply to one panel at a time.
This new Ceramic Spray Coating spreads easy and wipes off easy.
Very different products. Good question, thank you for asking.

Similar functional results though, right? Spray and wipe, long lasting, great hydrophobic and self-cleaning. These could more or less be considered competing products with totally technology I was thinking. Thoughts, Mike?

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Mike and Forum,
If anyone has tried this over PPF and does it still maintain the slick feeling? I have coated my PPF (Carpro SKIN) and still cannot find a topper that results in that slick feeling. Curious to see how this product works. Currently tried the PBL products and they are perfect on paint but not same over PPF.
Curious

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Hi Mike
I have ordered some last week
I still have quite bit of the following left, all Wolfgang
Paint sealant 3.0
Spritz Spray Sealant
Spritz Detailer
Uber Rinseless Wash (use as a waterless wash)
Wash Soap (can't remember name)
These are all in the gallon size with not much used out of them except the Paint Sealant 3.0 have about 1.5 bottles 473ml left.
Oh I also use a glaze before applying the Sealant 3.0.
Can I continue to use until they run out and how?
Thank you

acuras82 - yes thank you for expanding on my question as this was the heart of what I'm getting at.
Mike,
my questions revolves around your PNS write up here (hey saved you from needing to find a link ;) )
SONAX Polymer Net Shield - Closest thing to a coating without being a coating
For my daily drivers, and after clay & polish, are their major differences from the following two processes in terms of ability to shed water, longevity, shine/gloss all things being equal?
Blackfire AIO -> PNS -> BNS as drying aid/maintenance
Blackfire AIO -> Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep -> Uber Ceramic Spray Coating -> more Uber Ceramic as maintenance/needed
Based on the both reviews:
PNS:
Pros: easier application than normal coating & no prep needed after AIO/sealant/Wax/LSP applied
Cons: can be grabby to apply and not as easy as Uber Ceramic Spray
Uber Ceramic Spray:
Pros: Easy as it gets
Cons: requires prep to remove any wax/residues before applying

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Looks to be another top notch spray on wipe off coating. The market has been filled with this type of product as of late. A good thing for the weekend warrior. Hardest part now is picking one!

That was a great question, comparing to PNS from an alternative product standpoint!
Regarding the swapping options: My guess, and it would be cool if I’m wrong or at least partially wrong, is that you will need to swap out the BF AIO to BF Pro Primer Polish or CarPro Essence or a normal polish (not AIO) when planning on WG Uber Ceramic Spray Coating... but maybe this new stuff is good enough on top fresh sealant.
Note that if the required switchover to BF Pro Primer (or in some uses, Essence) is the best route, these aren’t going to have any or much correction, so removing significant swirls would probably still require a regular polish first.

Thanks for the compliment! Fixed my original post to reflect Wolfgang Prep is really Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep.
Figured to Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep would remove the sealant from the BF AIO but idk either:)
Also why I focused on daily drivers that are going to be correct 1x/year and BF AIO is an easy 1 step to re-establish a baseline for PNS or WG Uber Ceramic. Needing to move to BF Pro Premiere Polish, especially if you have areas that need the BF AIO to correct, now you're into a multistep or at least multi solution process. A lot of work for something that's going to see weather all year and honestly would make me just grab the PNS. Becomes a 2 step process - BF AIO then PNS and im done vs. 4 step AIO, Polish, WG Perfeck Prep, WG Ceramic Spay Coating.
Interested to hear mike's feedback!

I don’t think there’s any chance WG Perfekt Finish Paint Prep will remove One Step after only 1-3x panel wipes. It will remove the polishing oils to make bonding to One Step easier.
I agree with your assessment of the multi-step becoming a deal breaker. Your only option would be traditional polish to replace BF AIO, if WG Ceramic doesn’t bond well. Even then AIOs like One Step allow you to do the whole car before wipe off, a huge advantage over most traditional sealants.

Thanks for sending me a PM, it's hard to keep up 100% with every discussion all the time - but I try. :)
Here's the deal, you can't use a cleaner/wax as your prep step for any type of coating. I wish we could. If we could, I would use the BF One Step all day long instead of a compound or polish because it corrects well and is so much easier to wipe-off than any compound or polish I've ever used. That's because the wax component acts like a " dry lubricant".
You cannot count on an panel wipe to remove 100% of the wax or sealant component.
Once you go down the road of using any quality one-step AIO type product you have ALREADY made the decision you're not going to use a ceramic paint coating. You can still use a sealant like the PNS or BLACKFIRE BlackIce, but not a contemporary ceramic coating that needs a pure base of paint for a proper bond.
:)

Hello,
Any idea how long the wolfgang spray coating will last unopened? I have the regular coating on my denali and I wasn’t planning adding another coating until the fall (it will be two years).

:)
I'm a little confused.
The Wolfgang Uber is superior to the PBL Surface Coating when it comes to a paint coating ?

Once you go down the road of using any quality one-step AIO type product you have ALREADY made the decision you're not going to use a ceramic paint coating. You can still use a sealant like the PNS or BLACKFIRE BlackIce, but not a contemporary ceramic coating that needs a pure base of paint for a proper bond.
Could you not remove the remnants of the AIO via the use of a product like PBL Surface Cleansing Polish and then be safe to coat the paint ?

Here's the deal, you can't use a cleaner/wax as your prep step for any type of coating. I wish we could. If we could, I would use the BF One Step all day long instead of a compound or polish because it corrects well and is so much easier to wipe-off than any compound or polish I've ever used. That's because the wax component acts like a " dry lubricant".
You cannot count on an panel wipe to remove 100% of the wax or sealant component.

Glad you responded to that question from Dry Bones. The opening paragraph in the description mentions it can be applied on existing protection, but later it states it can be used as a booster on existing coatings. This is in-line with the directions to use panel wipe.
Prior to reading the description carefully, I thought maybe this was formulated like 10 Minute Paint Sealant which specifically mentions it can be topped on waxes and sealants (which I always found interesting). I’m guessing the 10 Minute product is more traditional polymer based with some SiO2 whereas this new Wolfgang Spray probably is heaven in SiO2 therefore requires the prep’d surface.

Thank you
Hi can someone answer this.
Also will the nozzle get blocked or is designed so that it doesn't?
Thanks

Your literal question is if you can use products you own. Of course you can.
Is there something more specific you’re trying to figure out?

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Outstanding review and very detailed explanation! I'm considering this technology but have a shelf full of top grade carnuba/waxes : ) Maybe at some point will go the ceramic direction as the weather in NM can be brutal...

I think what he is trying to ask is ...
1. What are the shelf lives for the products he already owns ? (his initial post)
2. Will the nozzle get "blocked" by the ceramic spray coating, ie. will it get clogged after use ? Or is the nozzle designed to prevent this from happening ?
Answer to #1 depends a lot on how products are stored.
Answer to #2 is uncertain so perhaps a flushing of the spray nozzle after use would help.

Re: Review: Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Spray Coating
Hi thanks for replies.
They are all stored inside a spare bedroom. Thought that be the most consistent environment.
Thought might be a little like Can Coat that has couple of spray nozzles?
Can I use the Wolfgang Paint Sealant 3.0 over the Coat Spray, I can't see why not, but thought just to make sure.
Same with the other products for maintenance, still use over Spray Coating?
The only product that I can't use is the glaze under the spray coating?
Sorry for all the questions but first time user of the coating.
Thanks in advance

Yes nothing under the WG coating except a more permanent coating (think Cquartz UK 3.0 or even WG Ceramic coating).
As for on top you can add any LSP you want. Inly issue is if it will “bond” with the coating. From what i’ve read and gather most waxes and sealants won’t as the coating is designed to stay clean and shed contaminants.
Thats why the now have Sio2 sealants (toppers) that are designed to work with coatings.
WG has their proprietary topper.
Wolfgang Uber SiO2 Silica Spray
I’d use up what you have and then get a sio2 sealant

From my experience and readings, you can top coatings and SiO2 toppers with pretty much any wax or sealant. For the wax or sealant it shouldn’t be much different than bonding to clearcoat. But you’ll be taking away the strong suit of the SiO2 (beading, sheeting). The majority of people in this forum don’t top SiO2 products with wax/sealant for this reason.
The only reason I can think of to top SiO2 with traditional wax or sealants would be to change the looks, along with the hidden advantage of extra, durable protection underneath.

In this video Yvan talks about how Opti seal last 6-9 months but only 7 days on opti coat as it sheds the sealant. Yvans pretty knowledgable yes? I’ve also read other articles about this as well. I have also heard others say what you are saying
YouTube
Again MY experience with applying sio2 sealants on CQuartz topped with cancoat on most of my car and a bare hood is better performance from coated areas.
Is whats on top affecting coating behavior? Maybe. But if what your saying is true about whats on top masking the coating, then when i top my hood (uncoated) and the rest of the car (coated) then hydrophobics and self cleaning should be the same and they are definitely not.
I used to think that way too till i personally experience this but pretty much whatever I put on the CQUK3/Cancoat combo still behaves just like the coating. When I have applied comparisons on the hood they perform like the actual products.
When i top it’s more because I like touching the paint (dumb I know) and I think certain products make it more visually appealing

I’m not an Opti-Coat or Opti-Seal user and not really into Yvan. In Yvan’s experience did the surface go back to Opti-Coat behaviors after 7 days or did the surface exhibit funky behaviors going forward?
My own experiences were just having a simple wax or sealant put on top. The top layer behaved just like the wax or sealant for a good period of time and then things either went back to good beading or got totally fuzzy in cases where I assume the bottom coat was totally compromised by it.
