Heads up for Chilly - and attn any mods

Being on a few detail forums, Chilly joined Mike P's site and got to say hi! He has had trouble getting on here, and he was a regular member on most days.
I thought I'dd post what he said, see if mods can get him back on.

I am always glad to see perspectives from other groups, it always amazed me how you could get 2 totally different points of view between Autogeek and Autopia, both valid, but so different

My issue with Autogeek is I tried logging in one day, which was weird because I never log out, and I was told my password was invalid

I must have tried everything I could a dozen times and was never able to get back on

I emailed the moderators, I tried creating new accounts, etc, and not one single response ever came to my email address

I checked SPAM filters, etc. and nothing

I even created an entirely new email address and created a new account and never got the email that you confirm the account with

I finally gave up

I didn't do anything wrong or say anything bad or anything, it had to have been a technical issue but why they wouldn't respond to multiple attempts and multiple email accounts is beyond me

Oh well, onward through the fog

Maybe folks can join up there as well in case it happens to anyone else.

I'm over there. I check in daily. It was nice to see Chilly again

About 6 weeks ago I had the exact same problem. Somehow I was logged out, which I never do; couldn't log in using my existing password; and when I requested a new password, just in case, I was told my email address didn't exist. I had to reregister, and what's odd is that I could do so with the same user name, but none of my previous posts are searchable, and the old account couldn't be combined with the new one. Any older posts, when you can find them, show me as a "guest", and this is the first time I tried posting with the "new" account.

I've been a member since 2013 and it shows I recently joined. Oh, well.

Not to high jack your thread, but anyone see PaulMys around?

Another new member on Mike Phillips current forum posted this a little while ago

Bunky has also gotten locked out of here like Chilly did, I sent him this thread and the one where Chilly got back on so he can try some of the suggestions.

I got a new laptop and couldn't initially log in on that.

Entering my user name and password here did not work:

I am currently logged on in my new MacBook Air using Safari browser, which I don't normally use, and using the password stored in my iCloud Keychain

but

If I copy that password and try to use it on Brave, my normal browser, it says the user name OR the password are invalid, and in my case, it didn't matter which field I tried to populate

If I logged out I honestly don't know if I could get back in

Safari is currently permanently opened up with this one single website running and I have to switch between it and Brave constantly and it is getting ANNOYING

I do know that the other day I saw an admin was online in the "who is online" box so someone is looking around occasionally

I wish I had some clear cut guidelines to help others out but honestly I think getting back on was more luck than anything else

Same here, although the time between log in attempts from me was much greater. But the point is that I tried everything to get back online, including emailing mods and sending requests, but got nowhere.

Wonder if the Brave browser (or other 3rd party browsers) are having trouble with Autogeek for some reason? Maybe Autogeek needs to update etc. Also, sounds like the Autogeek forum has been put on the "not managed" list.

I tried multiple browsers, even downloaded Chrome and a couple others with no luck

I turned off my VPN when tinkering around and it didn’t change anything

Not saying it’s not a browser issue as it very well could be

I am actually able to get on using the Brave browser app on my iPhone

Just in case it isn’t already confusing enough

Since others are having similar issues I’m not feeling as stupid as I was about a month ago

That is super weird. Although I'm sure if there were any mods around, it could be addressed easily. Hopefully there is someone that will eventually get to it.

He was saying he hadn't been here for years. I saw him over on Autopia and he mentioned he tried to get in here and couldn't.
