The PE-14 thread size for backing plates is 5/8". Is 5/8" the same size as M14. I found an 80mm (3 1/4") extension bar with M14 threads. It comes from the U.K. and I just want to make sure their threads are the same size threads we use in the U.S.

5/8-11 is an inch/imperial thread, M14 is a metric thread, so no, they are not the same.
Thank you for the reply. I have searched and searched for an extension and the most I have found is 1". Why aren't there any 3" to 6" extensions available for rotaries? There seems to be a demand for them, not a huge one but they are there.
I put 3 1" extensions on my rotary to get longer extensions.
I too would like to see a 3" extension for rotaries.
Perhaps you can find a machine shop that could make one for you.
Well, I have searched and searched for a 3" extension for the new Flex Pe14-2 I got a couple of weeks ago and there ain't none. You mean no one needs or wants a 3" extension for their rotary that you had rather screw 3 1" hex extensions together to get your 3"? Mistakes do happen and if you have 3 hex's together, that will be like a can opener going after your car. A nice round one, there will be damage but nowhere near what the hex will make.
You're telling me that Mike Phillips and Autogeek are unable to get some quality round 3" extensions for us. They have no idea where to get them or have someone make them to sell. I just do not understand this at all.
