Megs, etc. are not bad products but....
I was browsing another forum I'm on and the OP posted how he tried Megs cleaner wax and how well he liked it. this is one of the responses he gets back:
"Megs, etc. are not bad products but they just don't hold up or work as well as commercial/professional grade products (that actual cost the same or less). You have to remember, everyone uses the same substances to formulate their products, what is different is the purity/concentration & price.....typical retail names are much more expensive per ounce than commercial lines."
Here's another snippet from a previous thread
"I have found that flannel (100% cotton) outperforms the microfiber wax removal towels consistently- cheaper, better, last longer, gives a much better shine/result and available in sell by the bulk foot purchase at any fabric store for just a couple of bucks per foot."
Should I be using Flannel:confused: or 100% cotton to wipe down my car?
Thoughts on these statements?....Aaand go....

both not true. Meguiars offers both otc and professional stuff because its the consumer in mind. A pro with a shop needs gallons of stuff while a hobbyist might need some but not alot. Meguiars is also not more expensive when comparing others. Also, not everyone used the same recipe for products. Larry kosillas plum wheel cleaner and dub by meguiars do the same thing, but have different concentrations and parts.
And the flannel thing....Shine comes from prep work, not wiping the wax off after it bonds. Okay it might pick up more but it does not work as it should and you cannot use it properly
Re: Megs, etc. are not bad products but....
Every APC is exactly the same. So are all waxes; haven't you looked at an MSDS recently? :rolls eyes:
You don't actually believe that meguiars, 3M or optimum do their own R&D of a product? Do you?
I hope that guy wasn't a pro. If so, keep me away from that koolaid.
Re: Megs, etc. are not bad products but....
Can't believe this guy is serious.
Rookie.
Re: Megs, etc. are not bad products but....
From what I can make out I think he is an old body shop guy that obviously has been out of the game for a while. It seems like every chance he gets he post the same BS and bashes Meguiars its crazy. His go to products are BAF Industries and nothings better :xyxthumbs:
Re: Megs, etc. are not bad products but....
As for cotton Towels, I would IMO, not necessarily say cotton would be inferior to the newfangled MF Towels. At least not if we're talking something like 100% pure cotton baby diapers.
I would guess with either, one could instill swirls-damage regardless, and it's "how" they are used.

No matter what the subject matter is:
If you get 10 people talking about something,
you'll get 10 different opinions: There are as many
opinions as there are experts; but you know, they're
all so amazingly well informed.

-Meguiars has over-the-counter products available at the automotive stores and the normal retail stores that carry such products. These products are sold under the "Meguiars" name.
The "Mirror Glaze" line of products by Meguiars is aimed at the body shop profession.
The "Detailer Professional Choice" line of products by Meguiars is for the professional detailer.
For what I know about it, all their products are of good quality.
Meguiars tech support is very good in m experience.
They have been in this business for over 100 years.

And then you get the idiot who says he's detailed cars for 50 years, thinks microfiber is all hype, and that machines are cheating and can't finish as well as by hand. Go ahead, try to prove him wrong, but he's been doing this since you were in diapers so what do you know...... (Yeah, this has happened)
