350zTT orange peel/swirls/RIDS/water spots
Hello everyone! Not sure if this is the right category for this post but here goes! As you can tell, total newb here when it comes to polishing. Just purchased my first 7424xp, and ready to put it to some use. My biggest issue with the paint is that there are some bad type II water spots on the horizontal surfaces of the car, not to mention lots of RIDS and swirls. The good thing is that I know there is a good amount of paint to work with. A local detailing shop has a PTG. So my readings were anywhere from 6 - 9.5 mils. There is orange peel, but I am willing to live with it unless you all think that its totally safe to wet sand.
Ok on to the pics :D

I know my garage is pretty messy. I have lots of side projects going on too!

The orange peel leave it not worth trying to fix your just asking for a problem. for the rest just do test spot with least aggressive first then move up.If you have never wet sanded do not try it on your own car get a test panel and practice first.

Watch the water out here in Vegas, the tap water is incredibly hard and etches incredibly fast.

I had a Cyan blow up on me so take it easy on them and watch heat and pressure. It was a 3" pad though and the cleaning brush was thought to be the cause.
Post up any questions and definitely take before and after photos.

Thanks for the tips. Just had a go at it, about 12 section passes with all the spots remaining. Started at 5 then went up to 6 on the PC. I have been trying to perfect my technique, copying guys like Mike Phillips too.
I was thinking of going the route of the CarPro Denim pads as well. Thinking it might just get rid of most of the orange peel plus level the surface enough to get rid of the water spots. Keeping in mind I have over 9 mils in that area of the hood.
Thoughts??

With that much paint it's a decision up to you. I've never done it but I have seen the results and on average how much paint it removes which I believe was in the 0.2 - 0.5 mils range. It does make the paint much clearer but brings risks.

Gotcha. I'm guessing you mean mils and not microns. No worries. I'll order them but hold off as a "last resort". I need a new backing plate anyway. Thanks brotha..
