Would one of the coats work well as an anti-fog for SCUBA?
So a bit out of the box here. But after a bad weekend of diving, I started think (this can be bad), that maybe there's something else to try besides the typical "Spit" anti-fog sprays, and drops.
Little background, freshwater lake/quarry dives, vis is about 15 feet on a good day, temps between 78 and down to 62 at the bottom thermocline (45 feet). Anyways, I kept having fog problems all weekend, tried three different kinds of anti-fog on my mask, to no avail. I even went as far as to scrub it again with toothpaste like it was a new mask (about 4 years old and 35 dives on it now). Silicone Dive Mask | Impression - Aqua Lung
Anyways, do you think that maybe on coatings on the market might make a difference? After flooding my mask for the 3rd time to be able to see at depth I got sick of it and called the dive. A quick search showed that many on here are at least familiar with the gear.
Thanks

I would be real leary of that idea. Not knowing what those coatings are made of I would not chance having them that close to my eyes especially in a pressurized atmosphere. Back in my diving days I found that a good cleaning of my mask with Soft Scrub or another non abrasive cleanser did wonders as an antifog.

Light solution of baby shampoo and water.
Do you dive in the old quarries down in Circleville ? I could tell you horror stories about that place (when it was Sturm & Dillard).

I only use baby shampoo and water(quarry diving in PA); never had fog issues

Yeah quite a bit. Seems the big catfish are gone now. I actually was at Lakeview RV park in Lancaster. Love to hear a few horror stories from my usual spot hahaha.
Just frustrated after a real crap day of mask fogging for whatever reason. I have an old scubapro I'd be willing to sacrifice for the test. Figured with all the new tech out here for glass and coatings and everything else we may have something that could transfer over well.

This is my thoughts...

Sorry, I just don't know what would work well and/or what would be safe for your eyeballs.
I swim a lot and have the same fogging issue with my googles. Seems they work best when they are new and then go downhill from there.
Maybe check for a dedicated Scuba discussion forum or facebook group and see what the gurus there recommend?
