Chain Wax Removal
What do you guys use to get chain wax off of bikes??
My Dh and I detail bikes for a dealership and we have encountered a whole bunch of sport bikes where the previous owner got ambitious with it. The last bike we did had it all over the place and it took forever to clean it.

Thanks! I should have known that. My first bike was chain driven and I used to use WD-40 to clean the chain.

Re: Chain Wax Removal
Come springtime I clean my son's chain on his Triumph Daytona 955I ..and I use to use a spray engine degreaser....now I use a spray bottle with kerosene and spray the chain and let it dwell and then clean it off.... works like a champ and cheap....

Re: Chain Wax Removal
Thanks for the reply.
Whatever we end up using, it has to be paint safe. The last bike we did had chain wax all over it. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the previous owner would use so much.

Re: Chain Wax Removal
All the above are paint safe....also another good product is Stoners Xenit or tarminator....both will cut the chain wax....
if it is a O-ring chain..the kerosene works nice as it flushes it also to get all the grime out...

Re: Chain Wax Removal
Kerosine only, on chain, paint, anything. Just go back over it with a quick detailer after on the paint, or other metal parts.

Re: Chain Wax Removal
I use WD-40 as well - it works really fine! But don't forget to wax it then right afterwards before driving. I cleaned it once and want to wax it before the next ride and i almost broke my chain because I forgot it :(
