Porter cable and transformer 220v to 110v

So, I bought a PC 7424xp on usa and where I live we use 220v. Today I plugged it in a 1600W transf. and it didn't work at all, it just span very slowly and then nothing. Im afraid something bad happened to it. What should I really use? btw, I checked online the transf and it said that it might not work on big devices so I still have a little hope that I didn't ruin it.

Did you use a step-down transformer or an automatic voltage regulator?

The reason I asked is because I also have a Griot's coming but I haven't bought a transformer yet. I hope it's just the transformer that's the problem in your case.

    Hi, Welcome to AutoGeekOnline.

If you have access to 220v why would you purchase a 110v machine?

    BTW, where do you live?

In my case, I'm in the Philippines, there's no access to DA polishers here. If there is, it's still probably cheaper to get one from the U.S. and have it shipped here. I'm still waiting for mine though, purchased it last January.
