Groits Garage DA
I'm totally new to the DA polishing. So I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I'm interested in picking up a DA polisher and I'm somewhat torn.
GG - Lifetime warranty, but because of the power and ability to stick to the car under higher RPMs.. I worry I might cause issues to the car (since I'm a new DA polisher user)
PC7424XP - not a lifetime warranty, but has less power and seems more beginning friendly.
Which would you guys recommend? My main goal is to get away from hand polishing. Also I'd like to do some swirl mark removal from the paint. I also have a small scratch on the back passanger door (wife rubbed another car). Nothing huge to fix but enough white paint on a black car where its annoying to look at.
Also the other goal is to polish and get a better look with waxing.
Car: 2006 Black Honda Accord
Thanks all of your help.

Re: Groits Garage DA
I wrestled with the same questions a few months ago. I eventually bought the Porter Cable. Mainly because it is a proven reliable machine built by a proven reliable manufacturer. Many, many pros like the Griot's because of the added power. I've never come across a surface where I felt like I needed more power out of my PC. I have found that technique is the single most important aspect of polishing paint. To me a machine is as good as the operator. By the way I LOVE my PC7424xp and wouldn't trade it for anything!..............................well maybe the Flex or Rupes.

Go with the Griots. "ability to stick to the car under higher RPMs?" Someone must be an idiot; never encountered this problem.

Re: Groits Garage DA
Okay guys thanks for all of your comments:
So far I have the Groits Garage 6 inch polisher - ended up choosing the beginner bundle
I'm also interested in getting a 3" backing plate and some pads for the tighter places.
Is this the right one: 3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate, da backing plate, random orbital backing plate
Do I need anything else with this other than Pads?
Thanks for your help.

Keep in mind the black shroud just above the backing plate on the Griots is 3 3/8" in diameter so the pad will be smaller than the shroud. It seems this wouldn't be very useful without one of the extensions to move the BP away from the shroud which then makes the set up "tippy" as Mike has mentioned.
