Can I use 3" Backing Plate on My 6" Griots DA?

Just received my Griots DA 6" from AG. Griots also sells a 3", why? Can't I just get a 3" backing plate and pads for my 6" DA?

You can as long as it has a 5/16" 24 threaded arbor attached to it for DA polishers. It's just that the 3" polisher is smaller to better get into tighter areas, but yes..you can absolutely do what you're asking. Here's a link for the correct backing plate.

3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate, da backing plate, random orbital backing plate

You can buy the 3" backing plate from the GG3" polisher for I believe $5.00 from Griots--it's not in the catalog, but if you call and ask for it they will have it in their records.

Does this plate need an adapter for the GG 6"? Thanks!

From the chart, it looks like the plates will fit. Am I reading it wrong?

Re: Can I use 3" Backing Plate on My 6" Griots DA?

While I like the 2 3/4" plate size in the kit better than the 2 7/8" plate, I don't care much for the hard plastic nor the foam interface of that particular model.
Edit: Some claim the added heat shrink benefit of the plastic/foam is well suited for the GG.
    All-in-all, either will suffice.

Re: Can I use 3" Backing Plate on My 6" Griots DA?

i would advise not to use the 3" Griot's pads on the GG6, they will rip/tear and are better suited to be used with the GG3...
