    Porter Cable 7346

I've had this sander/polisher for a while now (7346). From what I can see specs are similar if not the same to the 7424... I'm just wondering if anyone would be able to chime in and comfirm that this would be suitable to use.

My next question is that I am a complete newb to polishing. I'm not scared at all to jump into it, I just want to make sure that I jump into it with the proper supplies. Is there a good starter kit that offers backing plate, pads, compounds, finishes and anything else that I would need for one good price. Also what size of pads should I use? There's probably a million more questions that I could ask, but I'll start with these.

Thanks for any info you all can give me.

The 7336 was the same as PC7424 one sold as a polisher the other as a sander or such. I dont remember the 7346, but make sure its not a rotary (circular) buffer. Pads and backing plates would be different.

Well I guess I should have just looked into it a bit further as far as the polisher is concerned... Looks like it's the exact same thing as a 7424... Delta Machinery|Porter-Cable

Still curious on what type of size backing plate and pads pads to use... Also what kind of polishes can be had for the best price that work well... All just a bit confusing to me at the moment...

Dual Action Orbital Polishers and pads: Porter Cable 7424 : Porter Cable 7424XP: Lake Country Buffing Foam Pads

you can use all the same options and such. I would suggest a 5 inch flexible backing plate and 5.5 inch pads. Add in Menzerna (SIP and Nano), Megs (105 and 205), or Wolfgang (TSR and FG) polishes and you'll be set for polishing.

You are going to want the 5.5 inch pads for your pc.
