    Help needed with vibration

I have a 7424 that I converted from a wood sander to a DA polisher. I was told to by the 5" counter balance weight, which I did. But unfortunately, this this just vibrates like crazy. Causes my hands to hurt in short order. Can anyone offer any help or suggestions as to what the problem might be? I have not bought the low profile 5.5" backing pad sold by this forum. I am not sure if that would make a difference or not. I have been using one from Meguiar's I believe with their foam pads. I hate to spend more money on another polisher, but this is just not comfortable. Thanks, Mark

The counterweight is actually not an issue.

    As for vibration

Make sure you installed the COMPRESSION WASHER after removing the backing plate to swap out the counterweight.

The only thing I know of to cause horrible vibration and BOISE is a missing c-washer.

    Google

Porter cable compression washer mike phillips

And I have at least 2 articles on this component and topic.

Besides that, what do you have for a backing plate?

You also need more than one or two pads.

I think I have articles on this too...

In the end, if you want to machine polish you're going to rant to invest in THIN pads for 1st gen PC Polishers.

I have an article on this topic too.

Typing from my phone otherwise I normally get the links to the articles for everyone.

    And... welcome to AGO!

I find that the 6" plates tend to vibrate a bit on that tool.

Once you pick up the 5" plate, and some pads, that should help out a lot.
