    lol, I guess I'm old school. Grinding and sanding takes a little force. Maybe I just don't realize how much I'm pressing

    It's normal for that to happen.let the machine and product work for you.Hope they come out awesome looking.

    What size pads are you using? With all the curves on a motorcycle using a 3" backing plate and 3-4" pads may help.

    Make sure you have the washer installed on the backing plate. It will not work correctly with out it.

    I did not install the washer. I'll put that in and see if it helps. I thought it was for clearance.

    Get 5" pads and use speed 6 on the machine, don't let it scare you. You're working on curved surfaces which is the most difficult way to use a free spinning DA. If you can, try doing the hood on your car. Play with angles in the way you hold the machine and see how it affects the spinning of the pad. Once you get a feel for how it works on a flat surface you will be better able to tackle the curvature of the side saddles on your bike. Also, if you're using the side handle the goes on the machine, ditch it and put your hand right on the head of the polisher.
