Re: souveran paste wax over wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0???

The steps you mentioned AND in the order YOU wrote them...

    Sealant
    Wax
    Pressure wash
    M101

...all equal the wrong order of things.

For the steps you have listed, the progression should be...

    Pressure wash
    M101
    Sealant
    Wax

Yeah, M101 will remove Souveran oh and the WGDGPS 3.0 too, oh and just about anything applied prior to M101.

Lol, this gave me a chuckle.

He said, he did sealant then wax
Then said he had to power wash due to the polish dusting up..
Sounds like he did indeed polish off the LSP combo then PW
    So, just readd the combo

they do advertise that nothing sticks to the sealant. i didnt say the sealant lasts forever.

yes exactly i did sealant then wax, then i washed because the compounding dusted up, the compound that i started with first, it dusted up, i cleaned it off with a blower the best i could, then after i polished sealed and waxed, i then washed to get rid of the remaining dust in the crevices of the car that i couldnt get before.

i did not do the steps in the wrong order. either my wording is bad or you guys reading comprehension is not great? i had a few beers before i posted so im going to assume its my wording. thanks for the help everyone, so far i still believe the sealant stopped the wax from bonding. like one of the posters said "a power washer could take paint off if you focus it" i imagine it wouldn't be that hard to wash off unbonded wax

so my theory is that the pinnacle souveran wont stick to the wolfgang dgps? do u think thats right? i mean they even say in thier marketing that nothing will stick to the sealant, they are talking about dirt and such but still. i dont think the wax can stick to it either
    fixed it

Re: souveran paste wax over wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0???

ok so i have some more information, here is wolfgangs marketing for the dgps 3.0"

Our enhanced super polymers have an amazing anti-static property that repels water, oil, dust, and road grime to provide unsurpassed paint protection. Your vehicle stays cleaner because foreign molecules literally slide off the clear polymer coating. Super polymers bond easily to automotive paint and form an extensive cross-linked polymer network. This clear shield eliminates surface tension so contaminants have no foothold on your vehicle.

so thats why i have a feeling wax will not bond to the paint sealant, wax seems similar to oil to me and may even have some oils in it depending on the wax. even if it doesn't it sounds like anything would have trouble bonding to the cross linked polymer coating. maybe a product expert could chime in?

but why would wax be able to bond so easy to this cured clear coating and nothing else? if water oils and dust can't bond why should wax be any different?

i love the souveran its my favorite but i like to put something under it thats a little more durable. the only thing i dont like about the dgps is that the gloss almost looks fake. its def glossy though thats for sure. do you guys have any suggestions of anything i might want to use under the souveran while you're here?

if anything u should apply the souveran to the dgps 45mins or so after u first apply it. before it has a chance to cure. it would have a better chance of bonding before it cures

No matter what the marketing says, a sealant will not repel anything from your car. Like I said, if nothing will stick to it, then couldn't you just not have to wash your car at all in the 8 month period or so it lasts for? But people still do because it does get dirty. Here's a test for you. Go smudge your paint with your fingerprint oil and let me know when it falls off your paint. The reality is it wont, all the sealant will do is make it easier to keep your paint clean. That's why I'm so sure it'll stick to your paint. A sealant is not a magical protective shield, it's a microscopic layer of polymer. Like I said, if you truly believe nothing will stick to the sealant, smudge your fingerprint on your car and see when the fingerprint oils fall off.

Re: souveran paste wax over wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0???

•Over the years I've read and heard that:

    -(Carnauba)Wax molecules are "closed-linked"...
meaning they only butt up to one another---an
    eggcrate-type architecture---to protect the paint;
and gives the paint, what many people feel, is a
    quite pronounced "depth/wetness/jetting" effect.

-On the other hand, (polymer) Sealants' molecules
are "open-linked"---meaning that they will cross-link
    to form a chain-link/mesh-type architecture---that'll
protect the paint; but gives, what many people feel,
is a very reflective surface...yet has no "jetting effect".

    •So...Do Waxs actually "bond to":
    -paint; Sealants; even to itself?

    •IMHO:
-We can debate the above "factoids"
'til the cows come home. Or:

-If the bottom-line, for you, is that you're
    feeling/thinking the Wax was removed
    through the use of a power-washing session;

-Then this Mike Phillips' adage may be the
    best bet for a resolution:

"If you want your car to have that just
waxed look, then go ahead and wax it".
