    Pinnacle vs M205

I have a show car that I normally detail soup to nuts 1x a year in preparation for various shows.. I have always made my own kit when it come to detailing / buffing. Normally before polishing.. I use Meg M205 to remove and swirls ( since it finishes real nice) followed by Pinnacle Sovereign Wax. Would Pinnacle Swirl Removers instead of M205 be better to use? Which is believed to be more abrasive ?

Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated

    Sal

Sal, I absolutely adore 205. I suggest you just play with a few different pads for it as that will change the outcome. I believe 205 is idiot proof (not that you're one!!) and produces outstanding results. Different pads will change what kind of look it gives and what you are asking of it.

    Re: Pinnacle vs M205

•Do you need a more aggressive
    polish than the M205?
-Is its abrasives no longer providing
for the needed amount of paint
    correction required?

    FWIW:
    •Pinnacle uses diminishing abrasives
    for their swirl-removers and finishing
    polishes.
    •M205, a finishing polish, uses Meguiar's
    SMAT abrasives ("non-diminishing").

Something else to keep in mind:
    •Swirl-removers' and Polishes' "amount
of agressiveness" can be altered by
    several different factors, including:
-downforce, arm speed, type of pad,
    machine type/speed, among others.

I think both Bob and Richy said it best. Bob provided the technical differences.
Both have long work times, but Pinnacle will diminish as you work. With 205, due to the SMAT (super micro abrasive technology), it will continue to work and can even be rejuvenated by a spritz of water instead of adding more product.

I prefer Pinnacle Advance Compound followed by Pinnacle Advanced Polish, although I do love the one-two punch of 105/205 and I have all of the above in my inventory. The results from Pinnacle are nothing but stunning, and I feel safe knowing that my abrasives diminish.

My next client will be a new vehicle prep on his new 2017 Silverado with CQuartz. The paint is immaculate, therefor I'm opting for the Griot's BOSS Perfecting Cream. Mainly because of the no dusting effect, otherwise my choice would be Menz 4500 or Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish.

They're all very good, and if you are using something you like and are getting excellent results from it, stick with it!

I've found pinnacle advanced finishing polish (it's got a new formula) without equal and in your case perfect just before using sovereign. I can't think of a better combo for a show car.

    Re: Pinnacle vs M205

What I love about M205 is how quickly it can get the job done. On some vehicles, a couple passes and I'm done. I don't need to go through a diminishing process, like I do with their M09 Swirl Remover, or Menzerna SF4000. The other things I like about M205 is how easy it wipes off, and how easy it is to clean off of a pad. I get a lot of milage out of that product, and it never leaves less than stellar results.

I'm not a fan of rubbing off polish that's acting like wax residue.

    I'll add my 2 cents...

Pinnacle has 2 polishes in the Natural Brilliance Line

Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover = Medium Cut Polish
Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish = Fine Cut Polish

M205 is a Fine Cut Polish

The Pinnacle polishes will work on a wide spectrum of paint types and finish out perfect on all paint systems.

M205 tends to work best on harder paints and I've seen micro-marring issues on softer paints.

My car has approximately 10 coats of clear.

So that over time in can be buffed without worry too much of burning thru the paint.

Sounds like I should try pinnacle ??

If M205 is working for you then I would recommend you keep using it along with the wax.
