Cars look awesome and I wish I could have been there to help and learn. Quick question. After finishing the compound and polish steps, did you wipe down car with IPA prior to laying wax down?

    Thanks,
    Chris

No we didn't, it's not really necessary when applying a wax or sealant. It is necessary when applying a coating.

Thanks for having us Mike, it was great to see all the passionate enthusiasts there learning and working on these awesome cars. I'm a little biased towards the Charger, but the little section I worked on came out awesome. I have a flex so it was nice to use some other tools as well as some compounds and waxes I've never tried before.

I think my next order just got a little more expensive......

For all the compounding, polishing and future application and removal of the Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray you really need at least a dozen high quality microfiber towels like the Gold Plus Jr. microfiber towels.

Take my word for it these are nice towels and we go through a LOT of them for projects like these and to take care of just one car for a project like these a dozen would be the minimum amount. If you want to be stocked up so you never run out of clean towels in the middle of the project then get 2 dozen.

The other benefit is you only want to wash like towels with like towels, with a dozen or two it makes it practical to run your towels through either a small or medium size wash load all by themselves. Treat your high quality towels like any of your prized tool by taking care of them and in return they will take care of your car's finish.

Gold Plush Jr. Microfiber Towels 12 Pack

To kind of drive home the point in the little tidbit I included at the end of my write-up for this project, the next morning I placed all the towels and pads we used for these two projects on a couple of tables to sort them for laundry.

I practice what I preach and wash like towels with like towels.

Here's how many towels we went through....

Look how many Gold Plush Jr. Towels and how many Super Soft Deluxe Green Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edge towels we went through?

That's a lot of towels. Using fewer towels risks scratching paint.

Besides quality products, pads and tools you need high quality microfiber towels.

You need a place to store them to keep them clean when not in use.

You need a place to put them after use that will keep them uncontaminated until you wash them.

You need a high quality microfiber detergent to clean them and maintain their softness and performance (that's two things).

So if you're still using janitorial microfiber towels on your prized possession step up your game and build an inventory of microfiber towels that will do justice by your hard work and the paint on your car.

Super Soft Deluxe Green Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edges - 6 Pack

Gold Plush Jr. Microfiber Towels 12 Pack

And get some microfiber gloves too... once you wear microfiber glove ONE TIME to grip and hold your microfiber towels you'll never want to wipe wax off without them.

    Just like these guys....
