Why not Iron X for both?
No particular reason except to show two brands in one project.

Do you plan on stripping the existing paint down to bare metal, and if so, how?
If not, how will you utilize the kit?
As a guy that shares on a very large and public forum the idea of following a manufacturer's recommendations and directions... of course I would strip the wheels down to bare metal before painting.
First I'll have the tires removed. This means this will be at a minimum as full weekend project.
At this point we're also looking at other options, such as getting some other Mercedes-Benz wheels such as some AMG wheels that are in excellent condition, perhaps some chrome wheels like these,

If we do upgrade to some nicer wheels I will still do the write-up on how to refinish wheels.

Looks like you posted your above questions on a Wednesday, I was here but probably in the garage working on a project car. Sorry for the delay...
Good questions too...

***Update***
Frequent car care is easy car care... and fast too...
It's been 50 days since we did a show car makeover on this Mercedes-Benz. It's been raining a lot here in South Florida so this last weekend I washed her using the Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Coating Shampoo and a Montanna's Boar's Hair Brush, then dusted each panel with a mist or two of Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Coating, spread with a clean microfiber towel and then buffed to a dry shine.
How's this for the glassy look?

Then a quick vacuum and she looks as good as the day we did the full-blown makeover.
