    Friends Boat

Were not sure what happened, batter could have died and bilge stopped working, bilge could have burnt out, or since the boat just got out of the shop the plugs may not have been sealed tight. Usually keeps at marina, but was docked at a house they own on the water that they rent out, nobody was there right now so neighbor ended up calling. I ran over there after work and snapped some pics as the Fire Department crew was there with these pad thingies trying to get as much gasoline as possible and company was on there way to get it out of the water. We had a sh!tload of rain last couple days and think it could have filled up and bilge stopped working.

Only reason is didn't sink fully was b/c of the rear cleat being tied, it was holding the weight.

can really see the gas leaking here

That does not look good. The gas slick on the water is not very appealing either.

I think the EPA guy was on his way after I left from what the Fire Crew said. All I could say was "holy sh!t" when I saw it, didn't know it was that bad when I heard about it, big difference actually seeing it. I also don't believe they were fining him since there was nothing he could do and had already alerted the Coast Guard earlier but weather was so sh!tty nothing could be done till late in the afternoon.

I agree with Gary. Things aren't looking too good. What's the verdict Surfer? Can it be saved?

Oooh those are some sad pictures Surfer, looks like a nice boat too. I was about to ask if your friend was going to get fined but you already answered that.

How long was it under water? Days? Hours?

I bet it can be fixed! One of our boats went under water TWO times, just cleaned up the motor, and it was fine!

Adjuster was out there this morning and called to let them know it started sinking again so they had to rush out there with pump to bail water out. I think the company that got it up yesterday already flushed the water out of the engines. It rained like hell again last night and morning so very well could have caused it to go down again. Think its being taken out today on trailer.

Estimated repairs so far 20K+, all electronics have the be replaced and engines might be screwed. Going to see what insurance says b/c it may have a salvage title now. And it may not be worth it to put the money into the boat after this happened and just get a new one.

That really sucks. There is something very eery about sunken ships though. Kind of like the abandoned clown train!
