For those who use keurigs...please respond

So i finally gave in some years ago now on retiring our regular coffee pot.( kinda like how many years i went b4 giving in on getting a smart phone)

We had purchased a keurig k-supreme. Although we only use my k cup reusable filters because 1. Pods are to damn expensive, especially for how much coffee we drink, 2. Its alot of non recycleable plastic waste(not a climate nutcase! but do like to prevent waste when possible).

Anyway, we are on our 5th or 6th machine warrenty repalcement(free) now alteast...idk its to many. We do all the right things(descale, and all that propper cleaning). The last one lasted 4 months( never more than a year).

They all end up starting to brew 2 oz less than what you select. Never stop working completly just short brewing. Bs!

    Anybody else have this issue??

I’ve had a mainstay for about 2 years and never had a problem with it, but I don’t drink much coffee. Maybe a cup or two a week.

We bought my Father in law a Keurig branded one for Christmas and he drinks a lot of coffee and I don’t think he’s ever mentioned it messing up. Maybe he got a good one or you’re just unlucky lol

Damn unlucky i am lol. We have many friends and even family whom have keriugs and have never mentioned an issue.

We have been wandering if its the model we have thats got issues.

Either way, this is the last chance. Next time we will look for a different model or something.

I would try cleaning out the injection needle with a paper clip. Maybe you're getting grounds in it? When ours short brew, I usually do that and remove/clean the k-cup holder thingy. If you're using a reusable filter, you probably have that removed tho.

First reusable k Cup and next thing you know your driving and EV with Birkenstocks! For those who use keurigs...please respondFor those who use keurigs...please respondFor those who use keurigs...please respondFor those who use keurigs...please respond

So one thing to check if the current one is doing it is try a regular plastic wasting cups. Could be particular model but one thing that may be a variable is the reusable cups. If the disposable pod works then bingo. If not For those who use keurigs...please respond

I think I prefer the old school way of making coffee anyway. Not the super old school of cooking it on a fire, but the old school of a coffee pot and filters. Seems to taste better in my mind.

Re: For those who use keurigs...please respond

Have you considered switching to a Nespresso machine? My wife and I stayed at a hotel a few years ago and tried the Nespresso machine in the room. It made a surprisingly good cup of coffee.

One reason I like Nespresso better than Keurig is that the small cannisters of coffee are made out of aluminum instead of plastic. And of course they can be recycled.

As for the machine, we bought a $70 Nespresso machine off of Amazon in 2018. My wife and I have used it to make multiple cups of coffee each day and that little machine is still going strong.

One final point. For those of you who are at all concerned about the environmental impact of these single serving coffee machines, here is an article published in the Washington Post about research that shows these types of machines are actually better for the environment overall. The reason is that if you make a single cup of coffee, you use a lot less energy than if you make a pot of coffee.
