Now Sept 17th I can remember... that's the day I got married! (over 35 years ago BTW)
1987 was the year Metallica's bassist Cliff Burton died.
Sept. 12, 1970 here.
I remember the day when they said Cliff Burton died. I think it was an overturned van or bus that landed on Cliff only. It seems to me (but has been argued by many) that was the day that Metallica took a turn and started heading down the road toward "whimpy"... I think there were a few great albums after Cliff's death but I personally feel that they lost their real "Metal Style and Hunger" with the death of Cliff Burton. Just my thoughts on Metallica.
As for old school.... Being "Old School" and being an "Old Head" are 2 different things and one doesn't really rely on the other. Rock On!!!
From Charles Dickens masterpiece: Bleak House (circa 1852)...
When describing Mr. Tulkinghorn in Chapter II...
"The old gentleman is rusty to look at...
He is of what is called old school...
a phrase generally meaning any school that never seems to have been young..."
Bob
"Be wary of the man who urges an action in which he himself incurs no risk." ~Joaquin de Setanti
