Only $975K?! That's a good salary for the Sun Belt Conference. That has the be the lowest salary for any coach in a BCS conference.

The coach's salary comes from the money generated by the athletic department. Student tuition does not go toward the athletic department. However it would mean fewer dollars going from the athletic department to the university.

I just read O'Brien will an additional $1million for tv and radio plus $350k from Nike. That's more like it.

It'll be a challenge for Bill O'Brien to lift the program at Penn State after the negative publicity and fallout from the scandal. He didn't have to take the position; he has a good job with the Patriots as their offensive coordinator. I hope the best for him and for Penn State. I also hope that the victims are not forgotten and that they receive the help that they need.
