Re: $10.00 hand car wash/detailers
I'm thinking early spring, may be rent a uhaul pickup or van put in a 275 gallon IBC tank connected to my pressure washer and go to a parking lot and offer $15.00 exterior wash only for cars only but have flyers with my info and service menu (upsell -jrs1418) but by appointment at my home. just to draw the new customers. something quick and simple for those who don't want to spend for quality service. But may luck up and grab some who like my work and want quality custom service.
if it works it's A plus and may have a few new clientele, if not just keep up with my current clientele but raise my prices

Re: $10.00 hand car wash/detailers
Maybe he’s doing 2 cars an hour at 10 bucks each making a grand a week with tips maybe more with a couple upsells like wax. Maybe the building is 150-200 a month. I do applaud these hard working dudes for having a business trying to make an honest living
I saw someone in a lot that I don’t even think they were paying on washing cars a few years ago it was rather cheap not the nicest part of town but you did have to drive by it to get to normal stuff. I saw people pulling in

So, sometimes I would run company cars or long term rentals through car washes. The ones where they take it through swirlmatic, once out 5 guys jump and hand dry, wipe jams, clean windows, armor all insides and shine tires for about $25 to $35.
Now mind you, this was a crappy job. A lot of crumbs missed during the vacuum, a lot of dust and spills and overspray left on dash and console. Tire shine all over rims and then sling galore on rest of the car.
Reason I got these done? Pool vehicles used by all, no respect shown by most. I never spilled and dont drink soda so wouldn't matter. I hated driving them when disgusting.
Everyone always tried to get the car I was driving, because they knew I kept it clean!
Would I ever do that to my own car? NEVER! I've gone 2 months with no wash, because I couldn't wash it or find a touchless wash. Most people are wowed by crappy car washes, because they are used to a certain standard and don't hold thier vehicles to one.

I see you have a 9 year old VW with 170K miles. Detail it (should already be), go to a car show. Park so people can see your car, find a nice car with swirls and other paint defects. Park next to it.
Walk around, talk to other car folk and be friendly. Find the ones who are enthusiasts and love thier cars. Find thier weak points, swirls, buffer trails, scratches, swirled wheels, faded trim. Speak to them about it, mention you are a detailer. Walk them to your 9 year old, 170K car that is not a garage queen. Show them how amazing your paint, trim, interior and wheels look. Explain to them the process and how you can get them there. Try to book on the spot, offer to show a 50/50 test spot by stopping by your shop.
There that first tip is on me, good luck.
