Not sure if that image worked, but this is a great example of uncoated vs coated. Adam's ran a ceramic add where half the trunk was coated and the other half was uncoated. After spraying with a hose, within 5 seconds the uncoated side on the left was completely dry whereas the coated side had a ton of beading obviously.

My question to any chemist would be this - what's worse for your paint...hard water immediately drying on your paint, or hard water beading and potentially sitting there for hours baking in the sun?

    Rain doesn’t cause water spots.

Unfortunately this is highly dependent on where you live. Cities for example have a lot of air pollution and can frequently produce acid rain

Ric (Eldorado2k) lives in Los Angeles.

Can you name a more air-polluted city?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I live in the southern most part of the city of Los Angeles, less than a mile from the port, surrounded by refineries, probably the worst air pollution in whole country if not the world. Rain doesn’t cause water spots here. Lol.

LOL, ya doesn't get much worse than that! Consider yourself lucky though. Walked by three black ceramic coated cars in the parking lot today that got absolutely destroyed by the rain we got yesterday in Mass from Isaias

Jakarta Indonesia, the cesspool of the world... it makes LA look like a walk in the park! Drive an hour or so outside of Jakarta to the tea fields in the mountains and it’s amazing!

    Re: Post Your Beading Shots!!!

The only issues I've ever seen around water spots and coatings are from municipal or well water that is allowed to dry. Sprinklers from at home or even from a hotel are a prime example for the average person. Otherwise the only time I've ever seen an acid rain or hard water spot harm paint is if it's not protected in some way.

I've been doing this for a very long time way prior to being here on AG and have yet to see issues either from customers or on my personal car which are very often black in color.

    Back on topic:

    Beading from various Ceramic Coatings:

GYEON Syncro from back in April 2018 after it's first rain encounter. Tight and standing tall, super hydrophobic as that water just blows off with ease.

FFWD to over 26 months later, she is still standing tall. Not day one tall, but the sheeting action is still outstanding. From June 2020:

Cquartz UK 3.0 and Gliss V2 12 months after installation. Very similar sheeting property, extremely good

Turtle Wax Seal within 30 days of install/testing it. On my old Jeep XJ.

I think it’s a combo of Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic products and Bead Maker. (The experimentation days)
