What's in the Garage? - Shooting First Segments!

What's in the Garage? - Shooting First Segments!

Well the time is here... we'll be shooting our first segments this week and next week! Shooting episodes means traveling to different locations where the owners and cars reside which is alway an adventure.

    Here's my travel schedule,

    • Thursday: Fly to Try-Cities Airport from PBI

    • Thursday: Drive to TV studio in Bristol, Tennessee - Shoot new episode on MotorHead Garage with Dave Bowman and Sam Memmolo

    • Friday: Travel to Car #1 shoot segment for TV show

    • Saturday: Travel to Car #2, shoot segment for TV show

    • Sunday: Drive with camera crew to Nashville, Tennessee

    • Monday: Travel to Car #3, shoot segment for TV show

    • Tuesday: Travel to Car #4, shoot segment for TV show

    • Tuesday Night: Fly back home

I'll be updating my Facebook Page via phone with pictures during the trip and I'll try to get onto the forum and update this thread also.

I'd like to say thank you to Max and all our Sponsors for their support and partnership!

    Thank You!

If you live in the Bristol, Nashville or Shelbyville areas keep your eyes open for a cool car driving around with our TV show logo...

Be sure to honk and do one of these...

    Thank you sir!

Flying is fun and a hassle at the same time, (security), but it's the adventure of everything that makes it fun. My travel bag is always fun to empty out at airport security, it's basically a collection of electronic gadgets.

    • Dell Laptop
    • iPad
    • iPhone
    • Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Canceling Headphones - Love these!
    • Canon Rebel T1i
    • All the cords, chargers, full size keyboard, mouse,
    • Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light - (I never go anywhere without it)
    • Jerky (Tip from Dennis Gage)

Yancy, our Creative Director has it worse when he travels as he packs a ton of electronics gear.

My flight out of PBI is at 6:30am, the line at the ticket counter starts to build at 5:00am, so I try to get there about 4:45am, which means getting up at 3:30am ugh...

You need this. I always use it when I fly commercial.

Or better yet, since you are becoming all famous on us, Max could hire me to be the official AG pilot. We just need to find a decent cabin attendant.

I cant imagine what the Brinkmann looks like on an x-ray!

The last two times I've gone through security I watch them and they run the belt used for the x-ray machine back and forth and look and look and then move it out and someone start walking towards me and I already know what they're thinking... I tell them it's a flashlight for revealing swirls and scratches in car paint and then tell them what I do for a living and everything is okay...

But you're right, to someone out of our industry, it could be mistaken for some kind of weapon looking device.

You should tell them "Phasers on stun!" and see how fast they tackle you to the ground

Cool Re: What's in the Garage? - Shooting First Segments!

    Mike,
Are the stories more about the car, the owner, or the whole package? I'm only wondering because I have an elderly friend who did a 502ci / 502hp engine swap on his '64 Vette. Not a great story, but considering he is blind, I am impressed. The car is nice, but not concourse, as he likes to cruise in it when he can find a driver. One of the most interesting and intelligent persons I've met with a lot of automotive stories from his past.

I'm just wondering which angle the show is going to take. I'm really looking forward to it!

Re: What's in the Garage? - Shooting First Segments!

Day one over, had a great time on the set with Sam and Dave, also was able to watch two other sponsors working on two different Big Block Chevy engine builds. After the motor segments were finished the had me do a before and after on a 1965 Ford Truck that they used for another episode for upgrading the gauges in the dash.

Here's a few pictures from today...

Sam and Dave with Shane from Quick Fuel Technologies installing a set of dual carbs

These look like polished jewels in person... I was drooling as I watched them place these on the hi-rise manifold. I only need on for my truck and after hearing Shane describe the features built into these state of the art carburetors it only made me want one more...

    Here's my victim...

Dave and Sam are always a lot of fun to work with, they're the definition of "Car Guys" and true professionals on and off the set.

It's snowing outside as I type this, the camera crew and I leave at 8:00am sharp tomorrow morning to film 3 different segments for the TV show...
