    Locked Keys In Car

Hey guys i was working on the car and accidentally locked the keys inside.

All windows are up and doors are locked.

The car is a 2003 Mazda6. The first locksmith I called gave me a quote of $150 dollars to unlock the car which sounds rediculous since I could go to a Mazda dealership and get a new key for that much...

    What should I do?

Pry the door open slightly from the top using a plastic or hard rubber wedge and stick stick a slightly bent rod through to push the unlock switch. I've done it quite a few times on my own and buddies cars.

Here is an example of it.

does your insurance have lockout on the policy? this many times is included with roadside service coverage.

and, in defense of the locksmith, your logic doesn't make sense because he's making it so you DON'T have to go to the dealership to get a new key. it is a convenience thing. you don't go to a restaurant and tell them they are ridiculous because they are charging you $25 for a filet mignon that you could make at home for $5, haha

I actually ended up calling a local cop and he got it open for me.

Since he pried the door open it sticks out a tiny bit now =(
Serves me right for my stupidity.
