    Another dealer error

This isn't what some would call a major complaint but sort of sums up how many dealers carry out the request of their customers. I took my new car in for it's first oil/filter change at one of the largest Infiniti dealers in my state. I had decided to try out sending a sample of my oil for analysis at Blackstone Labs and so I requested a kit they offer to collect it in. The service writter was given the little bottle supplied by Blackstone and noted on the work order for the mechanic doing the oil change to fill the little bottle with oil as it drained and return it to me. The service rep. came to the waiting room to inform me the car was done and the sample bottle was put on the passenger side floor. I get in the car to find a quart bottle on the floor along side the small "empty" bottle I gave them. I carry both containers back in just to show how the guy put the small sample of oil that I wanted into the empty oil bottle which of course still has residue of what came in it and put the small bottle next to it empty. I'll have to wait till the next oil change and try again, Like I started out saying, this isn't a major problem but an example of the "Oh Well" attitude of dealer people. On a positive note, I instructed the dealer please do not perform the free car wash that they offer and at least they got that right. I guess life goes on.

Why take the car to the dealer to get the oil changed? I'd just take it to an independent mechanic or some other reputable shop to get that kind of work done.

its good to wait a couple more oil changes before starting UOA trending anyways, but thats not point. I have been known to sneak into the shop area and instruct the tech myself of what I want done, instead of hoping they interpret the paper trail that started with me at the front desk. The last time I took my car in for an alignment, I walked into the shop with my list of specs that I wanted the alignment set to, and told them not to use what the computer said. I told the tech that a 12 pack is in their future if they can get it close, and they did a great job taking care of me.

find a good local shop where you can entrust the mechanic and often the owner .... use dealer for warranty repairs only !

What both you and little OCD sugjest makes sence, I guess I was hoping the dealer who has a very big name in my state, would be better then most others. How silly of me. And OCD, I was not aware that you are supposed to wait for a couple of oil changes before trying that service. Thanks for the tip.
