Asian Petrolhead is a cool, unique YouTuber! He's about to review the upcoming Genesis G80 or 90....the rims alone are a winner.

Granted it's only a digital rendering, but that car is seriously cool looking.
I'd love to see Hyundai run a prototype-class car like this in the WEC or a DPi in the IMSA Weathertech Championship. That would give them some serious performance credibility if they could pull it off and be competitive. A GT3 car would be easier, but since they don't sell any cars which would qualify, a prototype would be the best way to go and it would be an R&D platform for the entire brand.

IMO, this is just the beginning. Hyundai/Kia are ahead of the game (and pushing the envelope) with electric/hybrid vehicles (seems to be the future). IIRC, LG and/or Samsung help Hyundai/Kia with their infotainment along with some other aspects of the vehicles. many South Korean companies work hand in hand and help each other out. the skies the limit with these brands, especially considering how much money they have and can spend on R&D. even the video below is over four years old (presently, i'm sure things have changed even more), it gives you an idea how HUGE Samsung is...
btw, can't wait to see what Tyrone Johnson (ex-chief of Ford RS performance division / 33 years) brings the to the table since he is filling some big shoes in replacement of Albert Beirmann (promoted to head R&D). exciting times for sure!

Re: Can you Believe this is a Hyundai
While I wouldn't argue Hyundai/Kia/Genesis isn't making huge improvements in their products and seeing growth, I think they are still lacking the racing presence needed to make them a household name among enthusiasts. Racing would fix that.
Right now they only have a factory i20 running in the WRC and privateer's running i30's and Veloster N's in TCR-class racing. The WRC is really a European thing (cant even get it on TV in the US) and TCR is an entry level spec of racing below GT4. Right now they don't have a car they could run in a GT3/GTD/GTE-AM or higher, which would make a prototype program (privateer or factory) calling on some of the industrial might you mention an easy fit. Depending on the class of prototype, they could run in race series globally.
We've been hearing of people with serious design and performance chops being poached from other automakers all over the place, but we don't see much for it. The G70 and Stinger turned out well, the Veloster N and i30 N seem to be quite good, but not much else. They continue to churn out SUV's and "normal" cars and I fear the Korean car culture which doesn't really have any preference towards racing or performance cars may be holding them back. I fear they will get to making normal cars which drive great, but never take the leap to fun cars that are true performance leaders.

Rumor is a G70 coupe is coming. It would fit in a GT3 class most likely.
