Did you notice that the spam you reported was once again from an account supposedly created in May 2017 and was once again the very 1st post?
Another weird ass user name as well
I think there is more here than meets the eye, IDK, I guess guys create accounts and then either find the answer to that burning initial question they have and they never post
I don't have any hard data to offer up actual stats but IME there's very much a Pareto Effect for most online fora, where the majority of the posts are created by a minority of the userbase. People sign up to read (frequently after google-ish searching) - and with "membership" comes nice features like keeping track of read/unread msgs, etc. - but never/rarely post. The increasing instability of the forum/dbase is disheartening as I have no illusions about the amount of effort the site owners might be willing to invest to do what may be needed to address it. That's totally their right, of course, just would be such a shame to see it slip into the Davey Jones locker of the Internet.
I guess I am upset because I and others got locked out of the forum for several months and I only got back in by a fluke chance, and some others still haven't gotten back in
I/They emailed for help countless times and got zero help, yet, someone somehow is able to manipulate the system and post up all this spam garbage
I honestly don't have a lot of hope that things will turn around
As long as I can still get into the forum I will keep participating and I guess I will go down with the ship
I am hoping that Mike Phillips' website takes off and becomes a new home for the people here who have centuries of detailing chops to share
It could be that a spammer/bot created a bunch of sleeper accounts a while ago. Maybe they just got out of jail?
