They suck in Michigan too. The good news is I have a lot of sidewall on my Jeep.

My area is a mess right now... can’t go out without dodging huge potholes.
The husband had to have a rim repaired the other day... bent the crap outta it trying to just get to the post office

How are the rest of you all fairing?
Hey Mo!! I hope you and Dave are doing well, other than bending rims in the atrocious PA potholes!! I miss you guys!! I keep the air pressure lower this time of year to provide a little more protection for the tire itself. Luckily I haven't had to replace or repair any rims, knock on wood. I've shut down the garage up there and am back to doing mobile detailing work this year!! Please say hi to Dave for me!! Hopefully we'll be able to get together again sometime now that they're getting the Covid19 immunizations underway.

    Re: Pothole Hell

Pot holes around me haven't been terrible (MN). Definitely had worse years.

I just picked up one of my summer wheels from getting unbended.

My Golf R has 19's with rubber bands for tires.
3 of 4 rims had bends, but the guy said to not bother with 2 of them and just fix the 1.
We'll see how they feel this weekend when I install them. (fingers crossed).

On a side note, the winter set I picked up last year also had 3 bent rims. That time I had 2 of the 3 repaired.
Not sure if I got another bend, but they definitely have more wobble now than when they were installed.
I'll deal with that in the fall.

Off thread to Dave..have you heard that Biden's Major is biting 15% of the white house staff. This is after having behavioral classes.

Yeah, I was going to say I don’t think it’s limited to the NE US. I think Michigan has some of the worst roads in the nation and as others have pointed out “fix the damn roads” isn’t happening.

I live in extreme SW Michigan and drive to the UP (upper peninsula for non-michiganders) a few times a year to snowmobile and it’s amazing how much better the roads are from about the middle of the state and North. The roads mid state and south are absolute crap. I can always tell when we’re getting close to home because my teeth start chattering from the stutter bumps.

Agree on that, Paul. Not to mention the traffic density. The FDR/Harlem River Drive is especially atrocious: narrow, windy, pothole ridden and plagued with the guys in their ricer boy cars who think they are on their own race track and add to that the distracted drivers and accidents are all too common. Ive been lucky and have yet to bend a rim or get a flat from the potholes, but I am also super-cautious.
