The Melt is Worse Than the Snow ...

Car-wise, the melt is worse than the snow. The roads are finally dry, you have your ride all spiffed up and then you hit an unavoidable puddle. Trouble is, that puddle is really this "slushy", a mix of water and ice and super-concentrated with all the salt, etc., that has run off the road. You can almost hear the sheet metal corroding ...

I usually go out of my way to avoid puddles or drive very slowly through them. Even more unavoidable in thus weather is salt dust. Even when the roads are dry, the salt dust covers all of the car surfaces.
I believe in treating everybody with respect, and clean cars. That’s what I believe in.

The salt dust on the exposed surfaces is not that bad... It's the stuff that gets into all the seams and such that cause the havoc.

I hear what your sayin' but the thing is those dry roads are covered in salt dust. You drive around a little bit and your car has that light coat of white. The best time is when we get that first good spring rain to wash that sh!t off of the road....THEN its onThe Melt is Worse Than the Snow ...

The joy of those first few spring rains is it turns all that salt dust on the road into a slurry that sprays all over vehicles as you drive in it. I find my car get covered in salt as bad, if not worse, after driving in rain until the road treatments are rinsed away.

It all just means I need to take our cars through the touchless wash with the under body spray to give them a good rinsing!

Going to have a lot of melting in PA this week. Going to hit the 40's with 50 on Wednesday. Still have a heavy snow pack as of this morning. And currently snowing again. NEVER ENDS.

Yeah, it rained here last night on top of the snow and it's in the 50's today with temps knocking on 60 tomorrow before getting cold again. Have a feeling there will be some nice localized flooding with all the melting going on. Will be a mess for sure.

    I agree.

Snow covered roads and very cold weather just put a layer of snow dust on the car.
Warmish weather with salt doing its job makes a mess of everything.
My R is a mess. I really want to wash it, but it's just get nasty the next time I drive it.
Maybe this weekend I'll give it a spray down and RW just to make me happy for at least a few hours.
