Re: What's in your backyard?
They are toxic, but not poisonous. I remember years ago we had a cat that brought one into the house, she frothed at the mouth for about half an hour. We have her some milk and it stopped. Back in the days before people freak out at the slightest thing and take their animals to the vet.
We do have cane toads in Australia, they are not native, they can make animals very sick, sometimes they die. They're mainly in Queensland, the state to the north of me, but they are slowly spreading south.

While visiting a town just North of where I live, I saw this guy wandering around near the main street. They're called Water Dragons.

Blood Moon, right now. Best I could get with my phone camera and a spotting scope.

Re: What's in your backyard?
I heard this plane flying over this afternoon, the engine noise sounded different. Luckily I'd been playing around with my DSLR, so I got a good shot of it. An Antonov AN124.
But then I heard another, this on is an E-7 Wedgetail, which is an RAAF AWACS and ELINT aircraft. Following the Russians, as you do.

Red tailed hawk nest. They’re well fed with plenty of tree rats and bunnies in the neighborhood.
