    Those look amazing. Nice work.

I don’t see attention to detail like that in west Michigan.

Anyone who's been in Scottsdale has no doubt visited "The Pavilions" on a Saturday afternoon or many of the other Saturday morning venues. You'll find a rat rod sitting next to a Kindig-it restomod or latest Rod Shop creation with everything in between.

It's great seeing both ends of the automotive spectrum with no judgements. Eat a donut and make a new friend is my goal. I've attended with water spots on my car because I was too lazy and it gives my detail pals something to rib me about.

    Have fun and smile!

Re: Musings after attending a car show

Paint work can cost an obscene amount of money. I saw a video where someone was looking at old cars and found a former Impala show car that 20 years ago the paint job cost $40,000. It was sitting outside and the paint had faded over the years.

I watched a video where Dennis Collins was talking a bout a Jeep he was restoring and said that they spent $12,000 just in sprayable materials, that wasn't factoring in time and labor for paint and sanding.

I guess Im a bolt on and finish guy. I had two weeks time in lining up and perfecting gaps on a drivers door of a Factory Five Daytona coupe. Then after I painted it two weeks in cutting and buffing the entire thing. I posted pics of the mods I did to the door on the Factory Five forum to get it perfect and 20min later Factory Five customer service was calling me wanted detailed pics so they could do a running change in door production to get them better off the line.

Re: Musings after attending a car show

To the OP.. I get it. I've gotten to the point where I'm a bit .. jaded? I'm not sure if that's the right word. When people ask me how I get my car so "shiny", I just tell them it's work that they most likely do not have the patience or inclination for. Just like how many people at car shows talk about how high purity their carnauba car wax is not understanding the chemical reaction that happens to carnauba wax when its exposed to a lot of sun and becoming acidic on their paint.. but to each their own. Most people in car shows don't have the technical understanding of automotive paint to know what paint correct really is, and I do not have the time or patience to explain it to them. I smile and nod and walk away a lot. I also don't go to a lot of car shows..
